Personally I think the worst synth of them all is the mellotron. The real devices are ugly tape driven pieces of crap, and the soft synth we received is an emulation of that piece if crap. lol..

No one could pay me to haul away a mellotron, conceptually one of the WORST instruments ever fathomed. Susceptable to all sorts of evils, heat, magnetism, humidity, and more.

I have NO clue why akai thought giving us a mellotron was a good idea. I bet everyone else did the same thing i did and went "****.. a mellotron? how anti climactic!"

Mellotron is also the one I use the less of new plugins.
Real hw one was heavily used in the 70s, Richard Wright used it on Atom Heart Mothet and Ummagumma.
So maybe it has its sense.
But yeah, this emulation doesn't sound so interesting to my ears, I never tried the original hw.
I tried the flute preset but it was difficult to have a good stereo image and deepness of sound.
I replaced it with Hype strings and it was great.
