I've recently upgraded from a MPC Live to an MPC Live 2 Retro. I've used the same SSD in both machines and I have all my MPC Live projects saved in one directory and the more recent MPC Live 2 projects in another. Everything worked perfectly.

Yesterday I got a replacement MPC Live 2 Retro (thanks Andertons!) as my previous one had developed a fault. I've installed my SSD and all the projects in my MPC Live directory work perfectly BUT all the projects in my MPC Live 2 projects are missing all the sequence and track data. All samples are there and mapped correctly but there's no sequence or track data, so when I press play, nowt happens!

Anyone come across this before? This new MPC is on 2.7.1 whereas my previous one was on 2.9.

Thanks.

Generally speaking you should assume that projects made in newer versions of the firmware are not going to load well in older firmware versions - I think that's likely to be the case here. Remember 2.8 introduced all sorts of new MIDI features, so it's likely that they changed the way project files handle track data.

You should also be updating the firmware to the latest 2.10 before doing anything, especially as some people seem to currently have problems getting their MPC to update - you don't want to discover this after your 30 day 'easy return' period.

You could go into the project directory and try and load the sequence data manually.

Or try and downgrade to an older version of the firmware.

Are you sure the project data was saved originally and loaded properly on the other MPC Live?

Thanks Andy, I was hoping you'd say something like that - I'm going to install 2.10 now. So far I've done nothing but load some of my old projects.
