Hah yeah I lucked out. I had to wait for Audio Finder to get updated, but now it works great! I got totally lucky I have one of MOTU's last gen 828x USB/TB2 interfaces. The USB/TB2 line all work great but all the new 'pro' AVB stuff doesn't yet. MOTUs usually pretty quick, Id bet those drivers probably do work, just not 'tested' yet. They always said that with my 828MK2 every time a new OS came out and the drivers still worked.

AKAI do not support all new Mac's in 2021, anyone looking to buy an AKAI product DON'T. Look at the competitors products instead, a beta M1 developer kit was released 6 months ago, they have had time to work out the driver issues but have chosen not to. Also they have released 2 MPC updates since the m1 release, so they might not ever allocate resources to fix this problem. SO DON'T BUY ANY AKAI PRODUCTS EVER AGAIN. All new macs will be in this arm arectecture so best to move to another DAW.

It's concerning that Akai have not even made any announcement regarding M1 support, you'd think they'd at least release a statement confirming that they are working on it. There's a Big Sur statement from 2 months ago, but all that says is 'don't update yet, turn off macOs auto updates'.

It seems like NI have it 'mostly' working in M1 with Rossetta 2, bar some of the older hardware (these are general Big Sur issues) and massive X

I wish they would just update the mac drivers, so the mpcs are recognized again when in controller mode. that cant be too hard...

Truth. My MPC One has been unused since update 2.9
Making music should be a pleasure while using the MPC is a torment.
The beginning was even fun while I was learning this device. Once I knew everything, it turned out to be a very unintuitive and buggy working environment.

This is very unlikely IMO. Ren, Studio and Touch are now listed under 'Legacy Products' on Akai's site, that strongly suggests that support for those models is over.

I guess this would leave it to the community to come up with something. The facebook hacking group might have some ideas.

They haven't said a damn thing in public for months but there's been some new stuff showing up in the latest Force beta that should be pretty cool once it makes its way to the MPC (if it does).. Sounds like the sampler might actually become a real sampler with modulation finally, some weird half ass disk streaming setup, etc..

From what heard on mpc gang group on facebook, Akai won't provide drivers form MPC Ren, so that you can get rid of the past and buy new gear, that you'll be able to use for a limited time.

When i see the small annoying bug that the slowly add without fixing those on mpc studio VS MPC Software 2.10, i'm really not surprised, but i really suggest that every one shows their disaprobation to akai as they realy don't like bad publicity.

Programmed obsolescence is at work here !

The Ren is over 10 years old, folks were pretty lucky they got the support for that long. Not many companies bother doing that nowadays, and a company cannot expect to keep something running forever. If the technology changed and they cant write drivers for it, that's not their fault, its just the way the tech world works. My 10 year old Mac Pro wishes it could stay current, but the hardware inside just isnt up to the task. My former (almost 20 year old) MOTU interface still got driver support but if the hardware ever needed a repair? Those parts stopped being available about 6-7 years ago, there is nothing they can do about it. The move to the M1 wasnt just an 'OS update' its a completely new hardware architecture inside, some stuff is simply not going to make it beyond the intel era. Way she goes sometimes...

If you're happy using a 10 year old MIDI controller that was discontinued many years ago and replaced with some significantly more advanced standalone units then I would have thought you would not have a problem running it on a 10 year old Mac running a discontinued version of macos. That's always going to be the solution - work with legacy controllers, use legacy computers.

If you love something enough, let it go... if it comes back then it is yours to manage forever :D

PCs don't develop as rapidly anymore as they used to. Imagine buying Steinberg Pro 16 in 1985, and then ten years later expecting it to work with your new Pentium and Windows 95 ...
