Mixer volume drops to 0 when I press play

I'm a total novice with MPC and midis and the whole deal, so this is probably a dumb question.

Why does the mixer volume drop to 0 when I press play or click the timeline? I just want to record something and play it back to see how it sounds, but this makes it annoying. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

you have automation on
hit undo or
just Alt+M select automation
under notes
it should be under mixer
if its a volume thing
