Tula mic will be the perfect companion!!

I'm currently working with the engineer from Tula to help him test a new firmware for the tula mic to work with the live 2.. if antibody is looking for a usb-c mic to use with mpc, I would wait.. while others are very good.. the tula is the only affordable one made by a master at the craft, plus has world leading noise cancelling built in, plus has full hd recording audio when it's is not plugged in.. it is tiny, sounds great and has a unique sound to it that is very bright and lively and you can record stuff into it on the go and later hook it up by USB and just move files over or record in real time into the mpc..

Curious - who is behind the company and mic design? This is their debut (read: only) product, so I'm curious what makes them a master? Also, is the 700 mAh lithium ion battery serviceable? Dropping $229 USD for what could eventually amount to a paper weight once that dies is sort of daunting.

The guy that makes Tula is the same guy that makes Soyuz microphones, tula is his new company.. and every part of the tula can be replaced. It says on the website how important it was to him to make it fully repairable and easy to take apart, it is important to him that the microphones are loved and last for their owners, none of the parts are cheap and it actually has very impressive specs actually, it is cheaper because it is built in China by machines instead of being hand machined and assembled in Tula, Russia like Soyuz mic's.. it is comparable quality of parts though, it is very good quality dac's, transformers, all of it.. he will only put his name on it if it is the very best stuff..

Cool; thanks! Didn't know it was the guy behind Soyuz mics. I always looked at Soyuz as being heavily inspired by Blue's design aesthetic - I like them a lot (just would never drop that sort of cash on a mic). Very cool that the Tula mics are 100% serviceable - the battery's life really worried me. I might have to give one a try if he's successful with MPC support.

It sounds a lot to me like a good ribbon mic. It has a very sweet sound but also very delicate and not a lot of mid or bass emphasis.

One of my favorite mics is a ribbon mic. Picked this up years ago and love using it (MXL R77 with the upgraded Swedish Lundahl transformer). And yeah, I use white linen gloves when handling it:

Nice! I have a very old akg.. but mostly use my tube rode mic which is basically the exact opposite of the tula.. but it is great for my wife that sings.. this mic actually works well for my voice even though I can't sing at all.. but my voice is very mid heavy and boomy so this gives it a sweetness and didn't turn out into mud like a lot of mic's.
