MPC live Abelton

Hi new to abelton but how do you record samples into the mpc when connected to abelton all I wanna do it look at the sound files and arrange them etc.

Cuz that’s was a headphone issue this is a sampling issue. I don’t know how to sample on mpc live when connected to abelton link

You sample the same way you do every other time. Open the sampler, connect your source and sample.

I know how to sample on the mpc but how do I put it on a pad when I’m in abelton link

Do I need an interface cuz when I try to set up the audio input it only shows me the built in mic that’s on the mac

You don't. Ableton and the MPC are completely separate. Ableton Link keeps them in sync, it doesn't mean the MPC is magically inside Ableton and vice versa.

Oh dam so I’m assuming I need an interface

Ableton link is just a way of communication between the device and the daw (ableton isn't necessarily needed, but I won't go into that in case I muddy the waters) it can be seen as Midi ota.

I think you're getting confused with some of the terms, which in tune is making your questions unclear.

Are you using the mpc in standalone, but connected to ableton via ableton link (do as to keep everything in sync /time when you hit play)?

Are you wanting to move audio from ableton into the mpc?

If this is the case, you can either sample, use the NG the mpc and an out from your rig - as I don't know what your rig looks like I can't advise on how you would do that.

The second way would be to export the audio on to your sd or USB stick, and then you can access it inside the mpc that way (and assign to any pad you wish)

Are you wanting move audio from the mpc into ableton?

You can explode your track stems inside the mpc onto the USB or sd card, and then plug them into your pc to be imported into ableton.

If you're hooked up to your interface, you can also play the samples live and record in ableton.

If you have the live, you can do both of these things with it connected to your pc as it will be treated as a HDD and you'll be able to browse that way.



If your issue isn't any od the above, then you'll have to put a post below fully explaining what you need to do as it's a bit unclear.

This is super helpful thank you so much but I went the interface rout but now I don’t know how many instrument cables I need to connect the mpc to a Scarlett interface guy at the store said 1 is okay

That should be fine. Most people would go 2 x trs from MAIN 1&2 into their 1&2 interface inputs.
If you're going with one ts cable, you'll likely find some issues with the spectrum of audio you're getting into your Scarlet.

Also, if you're going the one cable route, ensure that all your outputs on the mpc are set to output 1. By default it's 1&2 so if you're not sure how to do this either

- look it up in thr manual (this is available online. Get the full version to save further questions about your issue)

- watch a video (Matthew Stratton, Tubedigga, Marlow Diggs etc)

- ask here (it's a forum and a place to ask questions, so someone will eventually help you, just try to find the answer beforehand)

Or just go the default route with 1&2.
