Most of that sh*t has been sampled to hell so I steer clear of that sh*t for the most part as far as sampling... Also, that stuff doesn't really fit my style... I do pick up those records to listen to because it's great music, but as far as sampling is usually either been sampled or too famous to really even f*ck wit... I mean there are people who do some serious sh*t wit a Delfonics sample and make it their own, but most people end up just loopin it and it comes off kinda lazy sometimes...

It has been sampled to hell and back, but remember the only people that know if producers, so if you make a CD to play in your car or at work most people won't know, but if your playing it on soundclick every tom, dick and harry will know becaue only producers listen for those tracks.

Yes, I mentioned the obvious stuff but for all the albums by these guys I've got 45's from people like The Sons Of Robin Stone & The Executive Suite. I don't collect this music to sample little bits but because I think it is some of the greatest music ever recorded.

I just got the Best Of Syl Johnson...

Man, there is a lot of great material on there.

The classic Syl Johnson break is "Different Strokes", which a lot of people think is James Brown. I've got a great Syl Johnson 45 called "Annie Got Hot Pants Power" where I reckon he really is trying to imitate James. I think Syl Johnson was from Chicago & he mainly did bluesy deep soul, but there is a house track by Deep Sensation on the Chicago label Guidance where his voice is riding a Philly disco beat. The guy who did it either managed to find an acapella of Syl's "Is It Because I'm Black?", or he somehow extracted the vocal from the music. He worked that over the instrumental section of "Where On The Right track" which Wand records released twice with different singers over exactly the same backing, once by Ultra High Frequency & a better version by The South Shore Commission.
