Route CV & Gate to attached audio USB device

So, it is great now that we can use our other audio devices.

I for one would love to be able to send CV/Gate from the MPC through the attached Babyface over its ADAT.
Unfortunately routing of CV & Gate seems to be limited to only the CV & Gate outputs on the MPC itself.

Would love to see routing options for that opened up a bit to be more flexible!
Any thoughts on that?

Not doable unless your interface sports CV input. These and ADAT are not compatible or need conversion. CV is rathaer like MIDI than audio.

Nevertheless a „control voltage“ by itself doesn‘t produce sound itself (except for the sounds produced by roasting any non-CV stuff you attach there).

However, either you are not using these methods (yet), or are not knowledgeable enough on this subject.

As i am already using this, on a daily basis.
And yes my interface supports CV/Gate as it is DC coupled,
and yes ADAT lightpipe does transport CV information no need for extra conversion, other then in the interface itself.

You'd like Akai to add more CV outputs than the regular 8, with channels 9+ handled as CV-over-audio. This could of course be added as a purely software feature, as long as the audio interface is able to produce a DC signal AND happens to work reliably with Akai's USB audio. But developing software is not free for Akai, and they seem to have very scarce developer resources.

A MIDI-to-CV converter box could give you more CV outputs, but you won't get Akai to pay for it.

I don't really see it as a feature, it is an extra option for routing.

Akai as a company doesn't need to bother themself with which interface works with their MPC,
otherwise they would have never started support for external class compliant audio device in the first place.

It is up to the user to find the Class compliant interface that suits the users need, and works adequate with the MPC.

For example in my case the RME Babyface pro works fine in CC mode with the MPC.
I am already capable of sending modulation and trigger data as audio, which is nothing new.

But allowing the actual CV & Gate of the MPC to be routed to the external ports, truly makes the CV & Gate feature of the MPC to be used to its fullest.

Makes no sense for them to waste resources adding this when probably 50+% of the users won't be using a sound card that is DC coupled anyways. Sure, nowadays there are a handful more out there, but it used to be a very limited selection did it (at one time MOTUs were the only one), and still is.

Unless you want to be their new support member that handles all the phone calls and emails they're going to get from complaining noobs who have no clue how life works yelling 'WHY CANT I ROUTE MY CV TO MY SOUND BLASTER'.
