Force just got Disc-Steaming (sorry MPC)!!!

Do you mean your piano keygroup is 50% lighter on cpu or ram?
Could it be that some part of keygroup is read from disc and another part loaded on ram?
Or is it just a cpu optimization?
That sounds good anyway, I noticed that MPC is going through optimizations with every update.

Im almost definitely sure I had a 1 stride 4 layer 88 note piano keygroup go from 65% ram to 30% ram after the Force disk streaming update…let me double check before its gospel but all the keygroups I tried felt optimized on the beta.

I think theres more work to be done before it hits the mpc where audio tracks arent as much of a priority (speaking for myself)…more that theyre pretty much unlimited on the force now (well cpu dictates) and you could load a large set of audio files for a live or dj set now.

4 velocity layers can be fine, but for pianos more is better. I have a 16 velocity layers Yamaha piano, but it’s only sampled every third and the longest note is only 7 seconds,(for the mpc) would like to cut it longer with more samples. With realeses i land around 450mb worth of ram, so less then half,2/5.
I,m working on a 12 vl with samples on all white keys only(Model D)2 programs, one with the second A to the last G, second program to fill out the bottom and top notes, will have a third program with all the black notes aswell. I will be abel to use the big program by it self, and still be abel to play. These sample will be up to 14 seconds. A little more ram will be used.

But how do you get to 65% with only 4 velocity layers? stereo samples 1 min long?

I only use mono by the way.

Is it possible to load 1 keygroup with discstreaming, i don’t use to many instruments anyway, a trio calling the horn section and guitarist at times.

As i understand it’s one sample at a time you load to discstream?
Lets say i do that and save that as a template, will it load up allready loaded to ds? If its possible to load only 1 big keygroup.

Well that's not super helpful. The biggest limitation right now with MPC is the keygroups. They're too slow to load and more importantly too slow to save. It just takes you out of what you're doing. You can't easily swap out sounds either. In this regard Maschine + is 100 times better.

For some reason the Maschine loads sampler instruments super fast and saves super fast, even though it's just an SD card(I have ssd in MPC), and more importantly you can load huge instruments extremely fast in Kontakt because it does disk streaming.

On the contrary, it *IS* super helpful. As mentioned already, at least in moderation it works great. That said, if you have multiple Keygroups streaming from disc, with multiple layers, you can easily choke your disc bandwidth (23-26 stereo "streams" seems to be the limit). Or if you play said Keygroup quickly and repeatedly trigger multiple "streams" over and over again, you can choke your disc bandwidth. Hence why it is not recommended for Drum Programs where you're just finger drumming, or Keygroups (unless practiced with moderation)...

For me the disk streaming will be useful to save memory in a long life project.

You guys are so lucky (MPC User here). I'm praying Akai will bring a new update/Disk Streaming around Superbooth next month, so I'm being patient. But I've finally been starting to tour and do one-off shows every other couple weeks, and I'm loving the MPC Live II for performance, until I have to touch the damn screen to load a new project because its so easy to run out of memory. If they don't update, I can't get a Force because they're too big!!!
