Dear all, I hope anybody tries to help me - I am lost...

I am sending multi channel (starting with two only), e.g. midi channel 1 and midi channel 2 from a master keyboard to an external multi timbral synth (I've tried the Virus Ti and the RS7000 - quite different architectures) with a direct midi cable - works like a charm as expected. Sound comes out all fine....
Now I put the MPCX in between those ( a natural thing to do if one tries to record midi signals). The MPCX is setup with ONE midi program e.g. channel 1 and the appropriate output channel to the multi timbral instrument. Resulting in a midi loop.
OK - setting monitoring from "Auto" to "Off" - no change...
Playing around with the MIDI/SYNC settings - switching everything on "Input" and "Output" to off - except the Masterkeys to "Master", as this is required or nothing flows through the MPCX... - no change

It "feels" like an internal loop - within the MPCX.

If I do exactly the same with the aged RS7000 - it works... now tell me....

I need a studio/live centre piece as promised by AKAI.
It sounds rather complicated - but it is not. The MPCX can record multiple tracks at the same time, but it rejects to do so in this fairly normal setup.

I have no clue... I am just about to kick the piece of plastic through my studio....

Yep in the window where you can see all the tracks, set the midi controller and channel.

Probably where your loop is happening, taking input from all on each track is wrong.

Also check the settings > midi menu and turn off "master" on the midi port its inbound on, you only need sync (if clocked) and track (to control the selected track).

You can arm two tracks holding shift and pressing the arm buttons. (switch monitor to merge on the multiple tracks)

hmmm - I wonder where my mind was yesterday.
-- It works exactly as mentioned

I thought I tried this as well - you never know how stupid a user can be (me!) Maybe I should have tken a looong break yesterday.
The settings in MIDI/SYNC are still as I am used to it - all inputs to control/track only master keys "Master" - outputs all sync/track - but it works.

Thank you for the help - I was going insane ;-)

EDIT - hhooold it, too early - I switched the master keys back to general midi channel yesterday - damn switching it to multi timbral is causing the loop again.... as I want to record individual midi lines . it does not work...

EDIT2: switching "Master" in MIDI/SYNC settings off is ending up in no input of data.

EDIT3: quick and dirty recoding on soundcloud below - I have recorded with a General Midi channel only - it works for me so far. I can manage.

EDIT4: for future use - the master keys (KorgM3) is in multi timbre mode (8 tracks) but all channels set to GeneralMidi channel, MPCX set to 8 tracks with individual midi channels (1-8)

Thanx again for looking into it.
