When you are in Pad Mute, you can select the program you want to mute pads for. But this doesn't just pick a program for pad muting - what it actually does is change the program assigned to the currently selected track in the Main mode, and that is what you are muting pads for.
Personally I find this counterintuitive compared to how the other modes work. It couples two modes together in a way that is the opposite of what I have learned to expect from the MPC. I can't see how changing a specific track's program from the Pad Mute mode is useful (I bet there is some advanced use for it though). If you want to mute specific sounds with Pad Mute, the way it works requires you to first make an extra step to select the track you want on a different screen.
What would make more sense to me is either to have the same interface as the Pad Mix mode, where you can select the track for whose current program you want to mute pads and also change the program itself. Or, alternatively, program changes in the Pac Mute mode to just pick a program for which you want to mute pads globally - that seems to me more in line with the over all MPC logic.
What does everyone else think? Do you find the current functionality useful and maybe make use of it in creative or productive ways? Is it a traditional MPC workflow thing that I am not used to? Do you think it would be better if it changed?
