You guys do realise that the arranger isnt a very good manual plotting area right? On the force the arranger is used to record the scenes. You record all your little blocks then hit shift + record and you step through the scenes and it gets plotted to the arranger. so how the heck is that gonna work on mpc? Sitting there plotting manually on the arranger is an agonizing task because you have to menu dive to move the elements around.

Though recording directly to the arranger does work it's not optimal.

it seems people are under the misguided impression that the arranger is like their favorite daw where you just grab some elements and move them around.. this is incorrect.

@Ultros: I would like something similar to the "Convert to Sequence" Feature in Song mode. But more in the way of recording a jam to a new sequence. I have often wanted that. I played around with the Track & Pad Mutes and would have really like to record that to a new Sequence. But it wouldn't just record everything with mute on or off but the the waveform/piano roll, if mute off and nothing, if mute on. Using mutes in combination with sequences never worked for me. When I switch mute on in one sequence and have it off in the next one it is still muted in that next one where it should be off. Also imho it is tedious to work to create sequence after sequence when you have the whole track in head and could just jam it out.

Would love to see (as a user of MPC One):

- Wifi
- Automatic cloud sync to Drive/OneDrive/Dropbox/etc
- Bluetooth audio support (for the occasional full song playback)
- Powered by USB-c, enabling easy powerbank support
- Dedicated track mute and solo buttons
- Dedicated octave shift buttons

The rest of my requests are software related and could just as well ship as upgrades to the existing hardware:

- More quick keyboard shortcuts for things like solo, mute, octave shifts etc
- Tracks decoupled from sequences (make e.g. a bass pattern that can be used across several sequences without the constant Copy Events menu)
- Automation on sub mixes and master track
- Audio tracks that don't cut the wet/decay tail of a recording (support longer audio recordings than the sequence length so it doesn't cut the sound when switching to the next sequence)
- More/better reverbs
- Option to hide/disable the really poor legacy effects like that Master Compressor (the Air one is SO much better!)
- Better track explode/export feature - export per pad automatically without the need to explode and mess with stuff, and without the need to turn a song into one huge sequence
- 4 more sends/returns
- FM synth engine
- A more configurable Hype synth
- Faster startup, load and save times
- More seamless background autosave with the ability to revert back to a manually saved slot

In case anyone wonders, I'm pretty pleased with my MPC One as it is. :)

For next MPC product some time ago was speculated that it would be a keyboard version (https://www.gearnews.com/leak-akai-pro- ... 10-update/). For me it makes the most sense, and I would love it.

It does not compete with the MPC ONE / live / X, and complements perfectly all the new synths from latest versions.

When it comes out (if it does), totally count me in.

That's a great design decision and makes perfect sense. Will be an awesome instrument and I'm also glad it doesn't directly compete with my MPC Live 2

Being able to do pattern chaining (ie. sequences of sequences) in the 'next sequence' mode would be awesome. If anyone has played with the PO33 then they'll know what I mean. Hold down a button and hit a couple of sequences (including double repeats), then those sequences will continue to loop in the order you hit them until the next time you select another sequence (or chain of sequences).

Song mode does this, at least the basic functionality of chaining sequences then playing them. I think you have to convert the song into a new sequence if you want it to loop. You can't enter song mode when anything is playing though, so no live sequence chaining from Next Sequence mode.

You can modify the song while it is playing by inserting a new sequences after the one currently playing using the Rec or Overdub buttons (but not the Insert button it seems? Super weird), so Song Mode seems to be the flip side of Next Sync, just like the Looper is the flip side of the Sampler. One mode uses the other mode internally in order to accomplish its function.

I think what you are describing is a combination of the two modes in one new mode designed for scratch with the full functionality in mind, more flexible and equally suited to live performing as it would be to composing, and I would like that too.

Yeah if you've played with the PO33 you'll know what I mean -- it's not quite a song mode but its more than a 'next pattern' mode. It's very quick and performative, allows full tracks to loop 'in memory' if you chain enough patterns together and it's really handy for throwing in variations. For example you have sequence A, duplicate, change it a bit, hold shift (or something) and hit sequences 'AABA' and bam, you've got a pretty complex sequence with variation shot from the hip. It's the features that make the Pocket Operators great IMO.

Cannot you make the same with Mpc sequences? And switching them manually? I do it all the time.

Sure yea, but Pattern Chaining takes it to another level for almost no additional cognitive or technical overhead. Sounds so simple but once you try it, you want it everywhere.

Well so far with my little experience of the MPC One

On my wish list of things would be the following,

Better File management, When it comes to moving and copying files, samples etc.

The ability to select more than one file at a time to move, delete etc,

The ability to clear recent files from the start up screen, (With out the extreme maeasur of resetting the whole settings.

Better save options, The ability to save and ;load files like the old school samplers (S3000Xl etc)
I>E Load programs only, Sample only, Alongside the ability to Save only the samples and programs in the memory rather than the whole project. (The only main save option at this time, Other than saving from the Individual menus in pencil edit mode.

The Ability to move the edit windows without having to select the Magnifying glass tool, would also be nice. Or short cuts to select the different tools. Would also be handy.

The ability to edit and the main drive and remove un-nessasasry files, and plugins.

The option to use the -+ keys for more options like, indeed transpose the octaves etc.

For me this is mostly software updates, as I find the Hardware to be super fast and more flexible than any of my old samplers and OS's from the AKAI Range.

The option to instal a bigger HardDrive to replace the 4GB one installed, as your not able to put another drive in the MPC One and all the new features are running from the SD card, or USB from the rear. Not handy.

But Theres no real reason to upgrade to another unit as the MPC One is a fantastic little work house.
