Or the connection itself is broken.

Just because there is a single output doesn't mean that it is mono. It's likely that output is using a TRS 1/8 jack type connection, which IS stereo.

The OP is confusing because it lacks that information.

For starters, all outputs on your iMac are stereo. A patch cable is a mono cable, so not sure why you are using it. Use a stereo cable. If your audio is still coming out mono (or with one channel extremely faint) using a proper stereo cable, then you either have a bad cable or you have a bad jack on your iMac - so try another output instead. Or add a USB audio interface and send your audio out through that. Also, check your iMac audio settings and make sure you didn't drop the balance level to one channel by accident... :nod: :popcorn:
