Condenser Mic set up

Peace forum. New MPC One owner. I bought a brand new condenser mic and I’m trying to plug directly into MPC. I’m not getting any sound or levels. Any help would be greatly appreciated or any links to videos. I’ve had the MPC about 3 weeks now. Thanks!

MPC One and Live I and II don't have any preamp out of the box that why the volume will be super low. You'll have to acquire either an external USB mixer table now that firmware 2.10 is able to connect up to 32 inputs or use an external preamp.
Since 2.10 is able to get audio through USB now, I was wondering if anyone has tried a USB microphone to see if the gain is better? Like the Shure MV7?

Most condensers require phantom power. So you either need an external pre-amp with phantom, or a class compliant usb interface, Normally the default advice is to get a Focusrite Scarlett, these are proving problematic with MPC, whereas the Behringer UMC range is getting good feedback. The Soundcard will replace all the inputs and outputs on the MPC so you'll probably want one with at least 2 ins and 2 outs, if not more to make the change over more valuable and functional.

Any USB audio interface(with preamp) can be used as long as it is connected to the MPC with an audio cable; the USB cable provides power only.

Do you mean whilst being connected to a PC/Mac, or do you mean just with usb power? For the latter the device needs to work in standalone mode. so wouldn't be any audio interface. For example the Focusrite Scarlett range only work in standalone mode from the 6i6 model and up, and from the 6i6 model, the power comes from a PSU, not a USB.

Focusrite products are weird. most cheap interfaces can get direct monitor even standalone...

"You are correct, the only audio interface products that can be used in standalone mode will be ones that come with an external power supply, like the UMC404HD or the UMC1820. All others will need to be connected to a PC to be used."

I use a Mackie mixer with pre amps for my condenser.

In the lower price range, Motu, PreSonus,TASCAM, Yamaha, Zoom etc. seem to work standalone, but Focusrite, Beringer, and M-Audio do not.

Most (quality) condenser mics require 48 volt phantom power. Does yours have XLR jacks? Assuming it does, you need to pickup a mic pre-amp that supplies 48 volt phantom power - lots of affordable options out there if your only goal is to get vocals via your condenser into your MPC One. You certainly don't need a USB mixer table! I mean, it's always an option - but really not necessary at all.
