How many beats do you make a day??

This is something i have always wondered...Am i a slow beat maker or what? If i'm in my creative zone, i think i can push out like 2 beats maybe 3 a day. Of course i have a job, and i have other studio obligations, as do most of you, so i was just curious as to the pace some of you take, especially the ones that talk about putting the samples through all these different programs and filters and sh*t.

1 a day ....if its gonna be fully made as in... all instruments necessary to make it ill.... complete mixing and mastering....

otherwise it could be 10 a day if i wanted half-assed rough draft beats... with the same drum pattern all the way through and a straight sample loop all the way through with no instruments....
^but i don't do that cuz i like to finish my beats.

call me slow i guess, i can barely put out a beat a week. i am extremely anal when it comes to all the different sounds. it will sometimes take me two or three hours just to get everything sampled, processed, and set up in a program that i can use because of how intricate i make my programs. then i will rough draft a loop or two with what i got, sit on it for a day or two and then come back and change everything up again. and i haven't even started mixing yet! i like to drive around in my car, or listen in headphones, or take to a couple of friends houses with different systems to see what it sounds like in the average guys house before i can officially say it is done.

i mean i used to just grab some samples, through em in a program, sequence a couple of loops and call it done, but the more i learn about everything, the longer i spend on stuff to make it right.

I always find myself doing just as much listening as beat creating.

meaning, I will sit down for like 30 - 40 minutes at a time just listening to old beatz in the stash so I don't purposely recreate the same sounding shit.

damn...slow down homie...dont make you a bad producer if you make one fresh beat a month...dont make you a great producer if you make 40 a day...quality over quantity

i nwork a lot like mesh- taking pains to get the sounds right and programming a responsive program- it can take me a day to get the sounds right, a day toi wack out and edit the sequnce- a day coming back to the sequence and adjusting the notes if needed and then after sitting on i for a while ill go back and listen if i immeditaley like what i hear ill keep it....

i say day i mean session, which is 2-4 hours

damn i make like 1 a day....not eq'd(which coudl make things better)....but in my defense, i listen to a lot of records/sounds to see what I like that day and am feeling.....this brings about 2 questions that I've always wondered (but please stick to the topic also if replying...don't wanna take away from the main point here)

1)what should one use to eq/process samples? does it make a real difference or is it just preference?

2)how many beats a day or beats in general have big producers made before they got big?

once again....answer the question how many beats a day YOU make before answering these questions....thanks

**** yeah! i'd be lucky to turn my MPC on per day, it sucks. I get home late from work, but i only work 4 day weeks so thats all fine. need some more samples for inspiration!

well im in school and i can never get into the proper rhythem that i want to get in. even in the summer. but when i have three or four days to make beats i let loose. not counting actually mixing beats, i think the most i made was like 7, but that wasn't one day, more like one sitting period. i'd say 5 of them were complete bangers or close to is and the other 2 were incomplete. If i was out of school, and i ad all the samples i needed in front of me and didnt have to worry about mixing, I could easilly make 20 a day. I honesly bang beats out in 5 minutes. Some longer than others if I am trying to change drums and make it more complex, but I can bang em out if I have time. One time I was in a hotel with my man's mpc and floppies I brought up and I made 7 or 8 beats in like 2 hours. every 15 minutes i was telling cats come hear this on the headphones and it was fun.

I can't wait till I graduate in December, than I can just make beats. The first guy who responded said one a day to mix and master it. i like to make mad mad beats and then spend a period of time mixing them later. that way you take a break from makin beats for a few weeks or a month and comeback with different creativity plus u learned mad stuff from mixing that can help when making beats.

i feel that, i have tried the make beats now, mix later routine. but i find that if i do that, by the time i mix i dont like the beat anymore and dont even wanna f with it. thats why i spend a lot of time to get it done, and then it is done. put it in the library or give it to my mc's, but done on my end.

i feel stupid, but im new, what do you mean by "mixing" your beats?

i usually make about a finished beat a week. i always end up coming back, changing the drums and stuff like that. sometimes i have weeks where i make 5 or so, but i make a living off of DJing so my time is split between handling BI, spinning and making beats.

I average about 4 to 5 beats a day sometimes more when I'm off work.

These aren't full tracks, just beats and first drafts. I can complete about 2 to 3 tracks per week. I wake up @ 4:00am, grab my coffee and start working on whats in my head- I have myself programmed to take a break @ 7:00 when the sun comes out and then I work on my site and listen to what I made that morning. If you go to my download section you can see those mornings where I was making hella beats and then those days where I didn't. (time stamped)

itz funny becuz i can work(make beatz) and post here.....bang out anything between 1 to 4 beatz a day....i try not to do to many cuz everytime i step in front of my equipment i am fresh with ideas....so breaks are good too.....i like to have fun tweaking them too.....i have fun with any musical items....even @ work...today for example i spent my lunch banging out beatz lunch table style......i just love music and i am a very musical dude...so itz alwayz whatever
