Truth B Told Yeah There is The FX BOARD But Those FX ARE VERY ......VERY WEAK BY Todays Standards and EVEN BY The 2000XL's
Day OF FX ......................

I know, that's why I said "If only the Akai R&D team would read these boards once in a while". You're also right in saying nothing will ever sound like an SP or a 60 ever again. But they can damn sure try - just look at the digital models of vintage compressors and EQs. It seems like manufacturers are content if a sampler just plays back sounds at CD quality.

The Thing About The SP and The 60 ARE not what People Always Say.......
.......Oh the bit and sample Rates THIS IS ONLY 1 PART

IT is The Way the Unit Was Made and MANY Classic Samplers HAD a
Non-Variable Type of Filter on the Inputs To try 2 Compensate 4 the
low Frequency Range Capacity.......................

Yep ....A Filter U Couldn't See Or Even Touch , Strange But VERY COOL
Sounding ...........

THIS CAN Be MADE Today But I Don't Know Why it Hasn't ..........

U Can try CONVOLVING n Get Something VERY close or SOMETINES SPOT ON !!!!!!!

I want use his real name, but the owner of midicase.com is a reliable source
of information, and if he said that there's talk about a MPC 2500. I don't think he would through that out there for nothing. been knowing him for along time, way before this site the one before and one. if akai comes out with the 2500 it would probably be at the next namm show. 8)

The only thing the 2000 and XL absolutely I would say needs is a High Pass Filter as MPC4000XL said...

If they just did that I would be able to do so much more directly in the MPC.... Could get those snares and hi hats EQ'd much more and filter out bass on samples....

Some of the other features discussed in this thread would be nice, but would prolly push up the price a lot... All we need is a High Pass filter...

Well i see it this way.

The 1000 could be a preview of things to come with the 2500. Roland has done this and is still doing it. Everytime roland debuts with a new device they carry-over a little of the previous technologies.

They cram'd a lot of features into the 1000, which were carryovers from the 2000xl, which was a carryover from the 2000 and so on.
I don't know what type of R&D budget Numark has, since they are part of AKAI now, but maybe they will revamp the MPC into something much better. Not like its crappy now. You just expect better from companies like AKAI with all this new Micro Circuit Technology floating around. You can cram a lot of technology into the palm of your hand today.

The MPC2500 is a 24/96 machine based on the hardware of the MPC1000. It will replace the MPC2000XL in the product lineup.

I'm just saying...

Akai should listen to us, the dedicated MPC users. It's that simple. We work with those machines every day, we know what we want from them. Now I'm sure they have some really smart R&D guys up there in Japan, but what's the harm in listening?

Of course we don't all agree on what the next MPC should be like, but there will be a consensus on some points, and we could surely offer some useful tips.

I seriously think Akai could benefit greatly from just listening to what we, the end users, have to say. Emagic/Apple are doing the same thing for Logic - on the SoS boards there is a place where you can offer suggestions that will actually be read by the Emagic team. It's like getting a huge international market survey for free.

Hands up anyone who would use good crusty 12bit sampling more often than pristine 24/96 sampling.

*raises hand*

i swear akai just don't have a clue...neither does anyone else...e-mu partially caught on when they reissued the sp1200, but other than that it's been a laughable sequence of day-late-dollar-short products like rolands pitiful MC 'grooveboxes' and the mpc1000. this 2500 is going to be weedy trash just like if e-mu ever made a new sp. they simply cannot see the wood for the trees.

i need a rugged crusty analog filter-equipped sampling drum machine that is made TODAY, with all the niceties of usb2/firewire transfers and cheap ram but NONE of this 'cutting edge' sample rate garbage with its thin crappy sound and buggy, overambitious operating systems

who's with me?

C'mon That's ABOVE CD Quality .....................The Point of Samplin' Vinyl into that is ( 0 ) ...........................

Think 24/96 People at this Rate Have Been Using SOFTWARE n DVDz For Years NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It MIGHT Be a Good Unit But The Samplist on MPCz Don't Truthfully Need This...

The Bit Rate/Sample Rate thing is at A Piont where Dither Down Machines/Software R Now Hittin' the Market....NUTS I SAY NUTS

i dont really understand anything you just said, but my point was that I WANT 12 BIT 32KHZ SAMPLING AS MUCH AS THE NEXT DJ MUGGS

i certainly DONT want 24/96 or any of that crap, apologies if this was unclear
