Just wanted to bump this thread, because FB sucks, and ya never know when they might want to just pull the plug on it.

I'm really hoping to understand how the midi mapping works! The APC Mini seems ok but limited, and there are so many controllers out there. This is my one feature/usability request!

I haven't. Sadly can't afford it right now. I do believe I could get this Midiplus smartpad working, it sends midi ok, tested with Midi-Ox. If you or Ultros could point me in the right direction to map it, I'll do the rest of the problem solving. I was able to mod the firmware on it to be the Kikgen firmware, so all the buttons send midi values.

Does mapping involve using the MPC Software midi learn, saving that mapping file, then placing it in a directory on the internal-sd?

You're welcome, and merry xmas (albeit belated) to you too.

Are you publishing any guides to how you're doing the reverse engineering work on this project? Would be great to see how it's done for the rest of the community to get behind. Ex-software engineer over here so might even decide to chip in a bit if you're looking for help... :)

Hi,
Anyone tried the cue/monitor feature of the force in the Mpc?

With that feature you can send tracks to the headphones to monitor the tracks, it has
to be enabled in settings and have to select the output for the cues.

If this is possible, is just a great feature for Mpc one users, will give an extra send outputs.

Someone tried this feature....can someone try this feature?
Best regards,
Sylkat

Yeah its all on github you gotta click through my repos to see alot of it, some of the info needs updating though. The code and the firmware is there, I've not really made a how-to but I do use irc if you're familiar with it where we can talk directly and i can get you going on cookin roms and setting up a toolchain. I'd love some help or to just help someone interested in poking like me get started. The programming thing / linux comfort are prerequisite though. Find me on irc.libera.chat under the same alias.

I have none, but bravo on your work Ultros. I can only imagine the long hours and head sweating in making this happen. 8)

About a month of poking testing poking testing poking testing then releasing a couple screw ups and making a public scene..

Latest build is here, live II users are reporting it doesn't work for them but MPC X, LIVE and ONE units are all good to go... I added a shit load of fx chains to it that work both in mpc and in force, and i also ported a bunch of the non interoperable force fx chains to interoperable assets, so even when in use just in regular MPC mode there are more fx chain options than stock now. Which isnt a big deal but they are handy.

Hi,
First of all, thanks for your works.
Sadly, after following steps from french post of audiofanzine, i've bricked my MPC One.... but it's back now ...(ouf).....So adventure to FORCE continue.... I've flashed my MPC One with firmware founded here https://github.com/TheKikGen/MPC-LiveXplore
After upgrade firmware, SSH working fine, i've got the KIKGEN Lab's banner, i only notified that my kernel version is differents from then Github shown (Linux mpc-one 5.4.124).
After this step, as recommended on Github, i've use Balena Etcher to wrote img file tkgl_iamforce_sd.img on a usb key, plug it on MPC One and power...tada....Blue Force logo appears, but nothing more and i'm coming back to the MPC's OS, no way to swap in Force mode. Do i miss something anywhere ??
Thanks for your help.

you'd need to ask thekikgen about that, i dont know how that program works or most of his stuff.. i kinda do my own thing. he's on some hacking modding etc group on facebook though. maybe ask him there.

You must install a ssh enabled MPC firmware from the kikgen. It won’t work with the Hakai firmware.

@ultros, jayrayone. Is Hakai dead? I understand if so. It was a cool experiment, and I'm glad it is a thing.

You should be proud of what was accomplished with such a closed system. Looks like Fitz has continued on with it.

Personally, without the easily accessible interfacing, I lost interest in using the firmware, as it felt like working in a daw through a keyhole, especially with the Live mk1.

Anyways, stop distracting yourself with this stuff and get back to making music! lol

Hi, jabberwalky

It's not dead but more like put on a hold.

When we got started on our private versions back in november, Ultros was very clear about not wanting to maintain the Hakai firmware and I've always respected that and kept it in mind.

About a month ago he said that he wanted to stop working on the Hakai firmware and wants to focus on some cool MPC firmware hacking projects and I respect that.

Maintaining the firmware and fixing bugs take up a lot of free time and also might cause a lot of stress especially when the team is very small.

I think in the meanwhile Fitz has been encouraged by our succes and has taken it to the next level. When I've got time I might write down a tutorial on the Hakai FB page for those who want to migrate from the Hakai firmware to the Iamforce firmware.

This doesn't mean that the Hakai firmware is fully abandoned, as Ultros might get sparked again and coock up some neat stuff in the future.

But for now he's retreated to, refuel, rethink the Hakai architecture and is working on some other cool projects.

I'm sure he will make an amazing comeback when the time is right and I'm glad that I could work with him on this project like Robin did with batman.

So just stay tuned, cause indeed we also love to make music and that's what it is all about..!!
