Good morning everybody. This is my first post here after checking out the forums and the r/mpcusers subreddit. I thought I would post here asking for help as I do not know where else to ask about stuff like this, so I’ll keep it short and simple.
I’m a veteran with service related issues, one of them effecting my eyesight. Nothing too major and I am fortunate to have both eyes, but I have a major sensitivity to light. I recently bought an MPC One and found that I am unable to use it for more than 15 minutes due to the lights causing major eye strain and headaches. The only other time I have similar issues is when gaming, which I don’t do much of anymore for this very reason.
So my question is, does anybody know where or who would be able to modify my MPC One to be able to minimize the amount of light that it emits from pads/buttons? The screen doesn’t bother me as much as the buttons and pad lights do. I know that the pads can be turned off/dimmed on drum programs but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case for key groups and plugins.
Ideally I would like to replace the clear buttons with solid color ones that don’t allow light through or at least have the plastic buttons tinted/painted, and/or replace the yellow LED lights with a dimmer color. I would also like to know if there is any way to get solid colored pads installed that don’t allow any light through whatsoever. The only alternatives I have seen are the fat pads, but these all have clear bottoms.
I have no knowledge of electronics or musical instruments so I can’t do it myself, but I am willing to pay good money for such a modification if anyone here can point me in the right direction. I am in California, USA btw. Thanks.
