Hey. So I've have my MPCX for about 3 years and I've noticed only with the last update more or less that I'm getting issues where all drives eject randomly and I get an error screen. I can get it away by pushing Main and going back to the main menu eventually. But I was just wondering if anyone else had these issues.

I feel like it only started happening when I began using the SD Card slot more.
It would be also my USB Ports. Sometimes the back end gets warm, and I was thinking maybe how warm its getting is doing something. Its like HOT but its warm enough. Maybe its just the USB Port being finicky? Maybe its the Update? I got no clue but since this has been happening its been really my only worry about this machine and its lifespan.

Last thing I could add is that Synth Drums and Another Plugin are on my internal mpc drive(the stock sd card one) and the rest of the plugins are on my main HD in the unit. I know when files get saves on the internal that it could cause problems so I thought I would mention that.

If anyone can put in their two cents it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That sounds like your usb port is delaminating from its welds. does it slop around?

Have you tried different disks, just to rule out disk corruption on the existing ones? Perhaps you managed to corrupt them all, this can easily happen if you are in controller mode and don't 'eject' the disks before shutting down (especially if done repeatedly). Or can happen if you have a power cut etc.

Otherwise, it could be the drives not getting enough power, I had a macbook with the same problem, drives continually un-mounting especially when in heavy use, it was a logic board issue.

Oh ho ho ding ding ding, i bet be's using a non-powered hub and its browning out.

These are actually all very good theories. Maybe when I have my ssd, SD Card and USB Plugged in, they are not getting consistent power. I live in a very old house at the moment so It is possible. I am not using a USB Hub and my 2 USB in's at the back do not move around or feel squishy by touch. I've had it before in the past that a Thumb Drive was in a USB Slot and got knock to the side a bit and it ejected. I feel like the USB port is a bit touchy like that. Its funny cause I really do not use the USB ports at all. Mostly just Regular 5 Pin Midi. I mostly use it for transferring files. The USB to my computer is all fine. No issues there. I never usually have the Ejection problem when only my SSD is going.

Well hopefully its not a board issue. This guy does get a lot of use out of it so sometimes it just stays on all day. I will try to reformate the Thumb Drive as that one was the most used and last reformatted. The SD Card was Reformatted maybe a couple months ago. The SSD Hasnt been reformatted since the day I put it in the guy so in the end that could be culprit but by the evidence I see, not likely.

Thank you guys for the replies. Both have brought up great points.

Drum Synth is 100% cpu driven modelling with no sample reference, to my knowledge, so running it from your internal storage shouldn't be an issue at all. But what is "Another Plugin"? And how did you install it to your factory storage via the firmware update?

These are located in MPC Documents/pluginpresets/instruments/

and the 2 folders are for tubesynth and drumsynth.

Besides that the only other files on my MPC Documents is in MPC Documents/Midi Learn/

the file is called New MIDI Mapping and I forgot if I made it myself and accidentally saved it there because i really don't map much out these days. If I can delete that than maybe just cleaning up the Internal SD Card will fix up my problem.

Ah OK, got it. Yeah both Tubesynth and Drumsynth are CPU/DSP dependent - they don't load samples, so very little to no activity on your built-in storage from those two synths.

Ok Thanks. Well I may end up reformatting some drives in the end if I end up with more crashes in the next couple weeks. I swear. It happens mostly when I use an SD Card and the Thumb drives together with it. I feel like if I didnt use other drives besides my internal that the problem will sorta disappear even though I would like to use the SD Card and Thumb Drive to transfer files.

I've noticed somme weirdness with my Force recently where every time I boot it up, it doesn't auto-mount my SD card. Simply re-plugging the SD card seems to solve the issue. I think I may have had a case last week where during use my SD card disappeared and had to be hot-replugged again. Idk if this is related to your issue, but figured I would share.
