Sample Chopping - Can't sort the hats!!

I found a sick break and I've chopped it in everyway I can, but I cant seem to get the hihats on the break to fall in time with the drums I've programmed.....

Does anyone have any ideas for solving this problem? I don't want to let this break go to waste coz it almost sounds sweet....its just for them bastud hihats....

Is there any plug ins I can get? or does anyone have any advice on this?

I've tried chopping the break into really small slices and it still isnt quite right....

are you using the midfile of the break? if so just line your hats up to the places that they fall in the step seq screen...

I sampled the break off an old crusty record...its quite slow and its like the hihats of the break have got a lot of swing on them so they dont fit in with my drums proppa....

I dunno if its gonna be possible or not....am still working on it...but its pickling my cabbage...

Chop 1 Of Those Hats and Make Ur Own Hi Hat Loop ......


If u Have FLStudio or Recycle U can Get a Midi File From That Break or Jus about any Loop and The Layer it on top .............................


If the Samples U have already used in the chop have Hats that conflict ur new hats lowpass the Snares n Kicks Jus enough till it's not noticable........

I have already got a hihat loop with hihats I chopped off another drum break...its just that some of the hihats of the break (not all of them) fall in between the ones I've programmed and sound kinda out of time....

I've got Recycle but I've never really used it...how does the Midi File work? how would I get a Midi File from a break?

At the moment I'm chopping the break in Cool Edit...timestretching it in Acid and then loading it into the MPC..with each part of the break on a different pad...

1.Load Ur Loop

2.Move the sensivity slider till u have 1 sound per slice u can audition this
mouse over each sound

3.Enter Ur Beats n Bars Utop of the screen ..........

4.Press Ur Preview Toggle at the top of the screen the ROUND ICON

5.Choose Transmit from the FILE Menu and Transmkit with midi File..

Go to the Trim Screen. Highlight the part of the break with only a hi hat and silence that part. This way it won't change the length of your sample it will just mute the hat. Do this on all the hats you want out.

the break I am using has got strings in it too so if I silence bits out then its not going to flow nicely...

This Is True Spectre But If he has Hats On top of the KICK n SNARE HITS
He Will STILL Need 2 TRY 2 LOW PASS or EQ Them OUT

Not to sound condecending but you are asking for a written solution to a sound/musical problem. Hard to answer without hearing it and if the hats from the loop are in the way try filtering. This will affect the sound of the strings. Try chopping the loop, again this will affect the sound of the strings. The problem may not be fixable....

Why not just use the hats already in the sample? If everything else with the samples and drums lined up, I would use those hats and maybe add some other form of percussion to compliment.

or add a cymbal crash over the hats that are off so you can't hear the hat.

im not sure if i understand your problem right. But pick a difffearnt hihat....if you pick a really "brush" sounding hihat, you might be able to cover up the hihat. I do this alot with loops with light percussion in it....and it does work, but a light filter over the break, might work too.
