Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

I think the MPC Key61 will sell for between $2,799 and $2999 to be on par with the big three workstations. Because the MPC X sells for $2,299 right not, and then you're gonna pay for the keyboard and the new VSTi engines plus other stuff they will add on. Plus workstations are going up in price due to shortages and inflation right now, and they already have a large MPC buyer base this will appeal to, plus others waiting for something new and innovative. I think the Key61 is gonna sell just as big as other workstations over time. A lot of people have been waiting on something like this for a long time, especially professional beat makers. I expect this keyboard to replace a lot of separate controller/computer setups in studios. I own an MPC X and I can't wait to get my hands on one of these to have both. When you do beats, or make music to make money, basic cost of your work tools means nothing. We don't debate with ourselves asking if we want something that will make our jobs a whole lot easier to make the songs we want. If we can afford it, we're buying it, if we can't afford it, then we'll debate the pros and cons of what it does and don't do to justify why we can't get one. Just being a keyboard sampler and modern version of the MPC is really enough for me right there to buy, as I can finally fit in a keyboard to control my MPC OS in a self contained workstation unit.

This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. If you’re a professional beat maker and already have an X buying another X with keys is redundant.

I see it the opposite. This is being built for the hobbyist. Somebody who needs the new new to justify them continuing making beats or in hopes it motivates or improves their results.

:hmmm:

MPCs always were paired with S series samplers since Eric amd Primo. The Z series is the MPC4000 so whats wrong with a MPK with a LIVE/X brain from the company that poops controller keyboards like apple does iPhone?

They always had Pro level Analog Synths and Samplers NO MPC.

The REAL question is will the obvious thereat of the KK61+ make Akai fix the bugs and add the MOOG branded bass to the standalone for the KO :!:

Standalone MPCX + Akai MPC Key 61 IN UNISON MODE =

DOUBLE:
audio tracks
memory
cpu
touch screens with main window in one and the keyboard parameters in the MPC Key 61

Those 2 with the SSL Big Six?

That didn't make any sense.

How is buying a keyboard redundant to buying a drum machine? This MPC keyboard is for people that want a keyboard sampler period, regardless of the number of beat boxes they own. Your analogy is saying because you own an ASR-10 sampler, it's redundant to buy an MPC sampler too.

See how silly that sounds?

We buy keyboards for keyboard control, we don't not buy keyboards because we own beat boxes.

You forget one big detail: this isn't the same company that made all these devices, AT ALL. Numark then INMUSIC basically bought a brand, AKAI Pro.

So all that nostalgia with these pictures of vintage gear are cute, but doesn't represent at all what AKAI Pro is today.

No they are trying to target the "workstation" market (Fantom, Montage, ...). The problem is that right now MPC Software is terrible for anybody who has ever used a workstation and understand the notion of "performance" in other brands. MPC Software doesn't do that at all.

So unless AKAI pro substantially improve MIDI capabilities on their OS, the workstation crowd isn't going to go easy on AKAI products. For instance, that MIDI note off bug that AKAI has failed to fix (a year old bug at least) is a non starter.

You forget to assume makes an ass outta u and me(you). I was selling MPCs working for Guitar Center and posting on this website before even you. Roland does not resemble the old MV8000 or VP9000. My old MPC4000 beats still load in the MPCX and has the same work flow STANDALONE IN 2022 - not the same company huh? Well the mission is the same since the 60 and only thing cute from me is when I electrocute my boy.

Keep the company ownership entitlement down when describing my world I know you new to the party like a NUkai joke.

Sorry but, that doesn't make any sense either. Why would you think an "X with keys" is for "hobbyists"... yet an X (without keys) isn't? :hmmm: Let's be real - these are all built for professionals and hobbyists alike - there's really no rule that differentiates the two these days. I mean, I get that you're trying to explain away gear lust and "GAS", but that seems like a pretty flat generalization, IMHO.

Is a "professional" who buys an MPC One any less "pro" than someone who buys an X? It's what you do with the machine that counts, IMHO. I don't see (the alleged) MPC Key 61 being any less pro than anything else on the market.

I don't think this is a competition - we're all gleaming information from various sources, some reliable, and some - not so much. For instance, you thought Hype only had 4-voice polyphony.

It's all good.

If thats the case you quoted me TWICE now. You win a nerd cookie by quoting me TWICE stating it was false. I never said ONLY 4 voices Mr Waldorf........ "I heard the HYPE keyboard polyphony is 4 voice" is a TRUE statement.

Take a chill pill some of us are MPC heads in an MPC forum dominated by RAP music.

This keyboard will serve the same purpose give or take as the S and Z did for the Professionals pushin on MPC 60s and 4000s respectfully. Not enough sampling time? no prob! Not enough Hype Synth memory? No prob!

Still don’t understand why people would buy this if they already have a modern MPC. It’s like selling your live to buy a live 2 when you could have just bought some nicer portal speakers and saved money.

Well If you are WORSHIPING this guys quote no wonder you are confused.

The guy above you corrected him. You must have never used a MPC and ASR-10/X together. There are professionals up here too.

If you feel like its a worthy purchase, buy one! no one's going to stop you.

No one has to convince and justify their desires to anyone...

I wont be buying one because I already own nicer stuff in theory. A modular mpc + a stash of hw synths. What could this new unit offer *me* I don't already own? That's the billion dollar question. What does it offer you that you dont already have with the modular unit + a half decent synth.

In order for me to have what I currently have i'd still have to plug the rack mixer into the MPC wont change anything in that regard...

They are the same freaking box! One just has keys. Your analogy is way off since an ASR would bring something different. Everything you can do on the MPC keys you can do on all the other MPCs. (This is assuming it’s going to run off the same OS which is very likely)

Just buy a midi keyboard if you need keys.
