Thanks Rohan. That's the same as the 60 3.10. I use a 3000 at my job and I think it's cool, and I haven't come across anything I don't understand or don't know how to get to, but I like to know of any differences to minimize this possibility.
My Boss has an LE, and I like the unit over all, but it doesn't feel as comfortable to me as the 60, and it's not just the armrest.
I really like the layout of the 60, all the program buttons on the right and in the middle of the unit, the arrow keys to the right of the data encoder, and although I used to sweat the display over the pads, I stopped when I had to move my hand from the far right side of the 2k to hit erase or whatever to the upper left to hit do it. Since I look at the screen more when I'm hitting buttons, I find it more ergonomic for the way I work. Also having all the buttons on the upper right corner is a bit of a reach for me.
I think I would be happy with a 3k, but I find I am happier with a 60. I can get around a 3000 very well since essentially the OS is the same, the filters and all that are great, but I have all that in my other gear, and I am less of an all in one box kind of guy. UI is very important to me (I am a big analog guy at heart) and I find the 60's superior for my tastes.
So I can't rule out ever getting a 3k, but I don't want one, and I can't see myself getting rid of the 60 or getting an additional mpc.
That said, the 3000 is my pick for best Hardware midi sequencer when people ask, since it doesn't need all the upgrades and such to come into itself, and without the 3k the 60 would not be as good as it is.
But taking in the total package, I feel the 60 matches my needs perfectly and I have no need of what the 3K has if it comes with the drawbacks of the more cramped UI.
Now a 3000 inside a 60 MK I case would be something I'd consider if I was really filthy rich, but I wouldn't sacrifice my 60 for such a unit, I love my 12 bit!

Makes sense.
I think from what I remember and what is noted on the Roger Linn Design site that the MPC60 has a few differences but most of them are more at a "hardware" than "software-ui-operation" level.
I'd like an MPC60 one one day when I am again cashed up enough to warrant the purchase.

Now... maybe AKAI should make an MPC60 case and pad assembly with appropriate circuit board stand-off pegs for an MPC3000 mainboard assembly. Oh to dream
Cheers for your words Elmacaco ... Total respect for your opinions and view point.
Rohan.

Thanks Rohan,
I thought if I had gobs of cash I could just throw it at forat along with a nice 60 and a beat up 3k and they could do the hard stuff.
Not holding my breath though!
yeah, I have read of the differences, there are a few menu options that are a bit different, but once you know where the filter i everything is really easy once you know the 3.10 60.
So Dove, you solve this yet?
