Akai makes desktop VST/AU versions of MPC's standalone synth

Not surprised by this, especially with stuff like the Odyssey, which was just an adaptation of the old (circa 2005-2006) WayOutWare TimewARP 2600 and KikAxxe code.

...now if only Akai could license something like Dexed and give us a super CPU-efficient 6-OP FM synth for standalone....

This already exists and has done for 10 years now, the MPC Software comes with VST, AU and AAX plugin versions that can be loaded to an instrument track in your DAW. Once assigned you can load any MPC program or project you wish.

It sounds like he wants to directly load the actual MPC programs themselves, which is entirely possible if you load the MPC Software as a VSTi plugin in your DAW.

You always complain.
Take the positive sides:

1 If you can use MPC plugins as VST, maybe sooner or later you will be able to use VST on MPC (standalone).

2 Maybe the VST better GUI will be ported on MPC next update.

3 Maybe other companies will make new plugins for MPC standalone, porting VST to MPC

4 Maybe a new update coming soon?

Im all for #4 but the 1 and 3 are pretty much dreams.. The GUIs may be ported over, but the MPC is stretched pretty thin already. But who knows (nobody here does and if so they're not allowed to talk about it) maybe the GPU is up for more work where the CPU isn't. Third party VSTs? And VST support in general?? That would've happened long ago if it were going to.

Akai has enough trouble taking care of their own support issues without having to take calls from every rando on the internet who cant figure out how to install Serum or has Massive X crashing left and right. That would pretty much bury their support team and nothing would ever get resolved at that point. The MPC needs to be the MPC. VST plugs can go in a VST host where they belong. They probably already deal with enough of those tickets concerning the MPC Software.

What do you think about other companies making MpC standalone plugins from VST?
If Air could make VSTs to Mpc and now Mpc plugins are also Vst, I think it might be possible.

I personally do not see that happening now or anytime in the future, anytime soon. Anything you see on the MPC/Force will likely always be Akai/Air. Just my 2 cents.

You can change the gui of your plugins to whatever you want. Has been done, just search for it on the forum..
