keep certain pads from sending midi note data ?

ok so basically what i'm trying to do is to set half my bank A pads to samples and the other halfs to specific midi notes so that they trigger an external sound module, effectively enabling me to play some drums on half the pads and trigger bass notes from an external synth at the same time

problem is, all pads send midi notes so when i play the drums they also send midi note data ? anyway to sent note data to "off" somehow ? i tried editing (emptying) the note data field in the .xpm file but without success, any workarounds ?

Not in front of my MPC, but you might be able to tweak the note mapping for the program so that the pads with drum samples send a midi notes way out of the range of the hardware unit. Like set them to C-2, etc.

You may also be able to limit the note response on the bass synth too.

Use a diff program for samples.
Use a diff program for drums.
Use a diff program for synths.

Don’t re-use the same midi channel numbers for diff programs.
Does any of that help?

Separate those banks into midi programs.

that would work for sequences, but unfortunately for live playing you can't play on two tracks at once unless you have a midi keyboard attached or other midi pads, i might just sample the synth and put the sampled notes on the pads, would have been nice to have the option to not send midi data from select pads though.

i did try that, but my synth (Bass Station 2) responds to all the midi notes, the only analog synth that limits you to a certain range of notes that i know of is the Moog Minitaur.

You didn’t mention it was for a Live setup. That’s a whole diff strategy.
