New user with what I assume is an easy question I can’t figure out…

I’ve chopped a bunch of loops and now I was to save them to use in other projects. I’m assuming I want to save the program?

I’ve chopped the loop and then converted it to a new drum kit. That part works fine but when I save the program and open it in a new project, all that’s there is the original unchopped loop.

What am I missing here?

Did you use the "SAVE CURRENT PROGRAM" button to save the drum program? And did you select the .xpm file when you loaded it?

New drum kit might mean new program. Maybe you saved the original program and not the new chopped program.

Kit is not a real terminology here, “program”, “bank”, “project”, etc is the mpc language. So if you use that we can all understand better what your doing inside the mpc.

Since I’m still in learning mode, I was just naming the drum program the same name as my sample. When I was browsing and opening the drum program I saved, I was actually just reopening the sample. All of the drum programs I made yesterday are there and working.

I'd really recommend The Bible, and I'm not being nasty. I read it cover to cover in a week and it got me up to speed in no time. Well worth buying

The BIBLE is key for both 1st timers & users coming from a legacy MPC.
This plus a couple of utube channels will get you up to speed.

B careful chopping, the MPC has 4+ options now that have big affects on your sample space.
I find the sweet spot is chopping to slice with “pad parameters” if want to save space
Otherwise, I just create a new program with new samples. This is the “old school” way

Regardless, name your samples carefully before chopping . . . . .

Oh man a 'save as' option would be nice. Im always forgetting to do that before I chop and then I end up with a whole crap load of files with a 20 character name with SL1, SL2, SL3, tacked on to the end haha.

Has any1 actually plugged a USB keyboard into the MPC & then re-named a bunch of files ???
