I really like the mother ducker plugin lol. I use it in every beat/track I make. For electronic music, just keep release at the standart 100ms and attack at default. Increase release for bit more drastic results. Like said before, switch auto off..
Only thing that sucks, that I cannot use more than on sidechain sends, it always gets confused, and I get hickups when bus channels get included..but, mother ducker ftw

Even with the release set to its shortest time, the thing was still pulling my whole bass track down in a weird way and was not reacting like I thought it would. Would be nice if it a had a filter on the input too. Luckily the track I was working on, the drum loop was chopped up as it should be, but if you use a full drum loop, the whole loop is going to duck it when all you really want is the kick drum doing it. Without a filter on it, you've just gotta hope your kick is on its own pad/track so you can put the input only on that one drum.

One more tip: you can duplicate a pad (or track) and put the volume all down on duplicated pad (or track) and apply the motherducker source on that.
This way you can put a filter before motherducker so you are applying a filtered source sidechain without affecting the original pad (or track).

Appreciate the feedback. I’ve already tried all these things but it never works well

Maybe I’ll post examples showing what’s happening. I get it setup to where it sounds decent but then randomly the gain reduction increases and or release slows down sporadically causing inconsistent playback despite different settings.

Make sure to load the mother ducker send plugin only once in your whole project. I get the same randomness as soon as I add another m.d. send, even if it sends on another sidechain bus and even if I have loaded a second one and bypassed the second one..It as a bug

Interesting. I only have one send plug-in but you got me thinking... Maybe it acts that way if the send is on a different program (which is how I use it). I’ll check it out later tonight

The send should be on whatever track/program you want to trigger the compressor. You set the compressor side of it up on the track you want to duck (as in the bass). And then you set the input up on the track you want it to duck under (like the kick drum). Those should be the only two tracks with the plugs on them. Every time the kick drum hits, it gets sent through the input bus and triggers the compressor on the other end so the bass gets compressed and pushed out of the way every time the kick hits.
