i dont really think he actually had a pen and a pad, he has many ghostwriters and also people who play instruments, royce da 5'9 for one was involved in chronic 2001 ghostin his ish... he has such a big name though that just on that hes gonna move units like the cat that did the fire track for lloyd banks and eminem added the match sound and suddenly its produced by em... i agree dre is a genius producer but candyshop is straight garbage

i really didnt want to get into this convo but, im sure you were right in the studio and you heard that dre had ghostwriters. In all seriousness, people need to stop talkin **** shiit when they have no **** clue. The only people that know who ghostwrited for who were the people in the **** studio and the people who **** did it. Everyone acts like they know whats really goin on.

like i said, you were at the studio when somebody was makin his beats?? just because the people you mentioned above helped on some tracks doesnt mean they do that for all of the tracks.

I dont know, i just think people think they **** know everything and they dont. sorry if this posts offends anybody. Im bout to put a **** warning sign on my posts like binger. "warning, if you dont like my post, then go **** yourself"

I think Dre's beats off that 2001 were HOT but I dont really like a lot of the more recent stuff he's put out, Im gonna wait for Detox and see if he can live up to his name. But as far as the ghost writers and what not, 95% of anyone who has "made it" (weither its Jay-Z, Dre, Eminem, or anyone who owns a label making money) Does not do all the work by themselfs.

thats where people like us come in

That 2001 sound wont fly nowadays, Dre smart enough to change up his sounds. No more hard snares, lots of claps and 808s. Simple almost child like melodies...

Some of the stuff on The Games Album is classic man!!! Im feelin some of the new 50 stuff too, think some of the tracks are growers though, but you cant deny the production!!!

As for Em rescuing Dre's career cos he was a guaranteed sale!!!! Who posted that S***!!!

There was no guarantee, the only reason that he blew was cos 2001 was so dam hot that he couldn't help being noticed. Yes he was different, but it was the combination of this along with Dre's beats behind him that launched Em.

If he was such a guarantee how come he didn't blow sooner?????

you can claim whatever the **** you want............but until you actually do it yourself, it doesnt count for shit. Not feeling him is one thing...but you cant claim that he is overratted. Even if he only had 30% actual credit due to all his work............he still has done more than any other producer out there.

also

What is harder. Samlpling a musician off a record.....or hiring a musician and telling him what to play........recording it, making it sound good, then arranging it as if you sampled it from a record? AND seeing a project from start to finish. Finding good artists......developing the artists.

BTW. i cant claim to even know how dre makes his tracks.......whether he hires musicians to interpolate.....or to do the work for him. I dont know....and i think alot of us have opinions based on speculation. Just as im trying to say that hes more than just a beat maker. I dont konw what to call him, hes sort of like a pilgrim and pioneer rapped up into one.

i dont really consider his style complex... yeah he has a nice sound (ear) but the drum patterns and melodies arent that complex at all...

thats why hes so good. The beatles werent complex either.

You cant compare the two literally (apples and oranges), but i hope you see my point!

Its so simple, its genius.

Thing about dre is that he can mix a record.... he knows how he wants things to sound. Maybe that comes from 20 plus years of mixing records, working with artist, picking songs for albums.....

The man knows how to out out a record even if he doesn't produce every song.

The only thing I will say is If the Game came out on Bad boy or something... I don't think he would have had that much hype... I mean if Dr. dre asked you for a beat .... you would give him your best music.

But, take dre's name of the album and you could say an artist like T.I. or Jada kiss could be just as good lyricaly as the Game...

p.s. isn't candy shop and majic stick the same f'in song...but they still bang in the club....... haha

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

dont let catchyness fool you- although the beatles probably didnt write things to be complex a lot of there stuff is...the use of weird chords voicing to fit the melodies, eveloving song structures, time sigs, key changes, ostinato.....all was used knowingly or unknowingly and it could be argued (well is argued) that the beatles were the ones who brought musical complexity back into pop music....

^^^^^^^good point dub. maybe i dont know enough about the beatles, or i used a bad comparison.

I always felt the beatles songs where simple as hell......at least the ones i like. But anyways, thats right, i mean, just cause they sound simple doesnt mean they are.

But thats how i also feel about dr.dre. I mean, his stuff sounds simple, and y ou can break everything down, and make a list: he used this, this, this, and this. Very very easy, any one can do. But To actually have the same ears, pick those sounds out your self, arrange them, produce them or what ever, and do it from scratch; its so hard.......super hard; even if it is so simple.

Feel me?
