Velocity layer question

There is a key group consisting of two auto-sampled samples layered by velocity.

The first sample is sampled at velocity 64 on the source instrument, and the second sample is 127.

In the key group, two samples are layered by velocity 0-64 and 65-127.

When I play the keygroup at velocity 64, the first sample is played at a very low volume.

If a sample sampled at velocity 64 is played back at half velocity, will the volume be the same as at velocity 32 on the source instrument?

As stated there, there are a few options to deal with this. One is to normalise all the samples in your program so they all have the same output level, but I (and most other sound designers) prefer to not manipulate the levels this way and instead deal with it in the program itself. Select 'AL' keygroups and reduce the VELOCITY MODULATION >AMP setting until you get the output levels you desire at those lower velocities. You can find this setting in PROGRAM EDIT > ENV:AMP and also in the MODULATION screen.

You can also/alternatively adjust the level of your keygroup's sample layers, i.e. reduce the level of the harder velocity layer so the lower level appears louder. Most of the time, the velocity > amp setting is enough.

I didn't know it could be adjusted with VELOCITY MODULATION >AMP!

Can anyone help when im using a plugin program? I wish there was the modulation menu in program edit to change velocity sensitivity parameters like you can in drum programs and instrument programs...
