Is there any way to remove the touch screen on the new MPCs? If I wanted a touch screen, I'd make beats on my iPad.

:WTF:

Then stay with iPad.
Perfectly capable device.

Simple enough mod, and really popular

It's literally a case of getting a flat head screwdriver, sticking it in the side of the screen, and keep tapping with a hammer until it pops up.

Its really popular?? Kinda funny considering removing the touch screen effectively renders the MPC useless. There are functions you HAVE to use the touch screen for, not even the X has enough buttons to get away with not using it. You cant even load a project without it.

Why even go through that trouble with a hammer? Just open the damn case up and pull it out from the inside.

Right? An iPad with a USB hub for a MPD218 and Beatmaker 3/Garageband/Cubasis/Roland Zen Beats is actually more versatile than a standalone MPC, at least you get graphic EQ and liner arranger.

I just prefer the all in one integration of the MPC software over the multi-app style of the iPad. I feel like if I want to make music on an iPad I need at least 5 decent apps. (Garageband has no mix screen, BM3 has no built-in synths) At least on the MPC everything I need is right there on one device, and I don't even need a MIDI Keyboard if I use Pad perform. I also agree that if you don't want to see the screen, just use a MIDI controller with the software or cover it up if you're using standalone. The screen is there if you need it, but you don't have to use it if you don't. Trimming sample chops with the touchscreen is definitely a nice feature of the modern MPC's tho!

Your iPad has a touch screen too. You could try using a Nokia 3310. No touch screen and is built like a tank!

Invest in an Older Model MPC! I suggest a 2500 or MPC4000. Thats your best move

If you want no screens, sampling, and pads....you'd need:

1. A Roland CSQ-200 + rack sampler like the S2000 + midi pads
2. An Arturia Beatstep Pro maybe
3. Deluge
4. Novation Circuit
