more trouble, not a little trouble! a lot!

I am shutting down the MPC and taking a break.

The last thing that I was stuck with was Opening a XPG (PGM?) from USB, able to hit save and make a new folder for that on to the SD, but not always. only the first time you save. I will look at the manual later, but it's just really hard to figure this thing out based on my previous MPC experiences.

In modern MPCs, the program extension is "xpm".

the MPC has gotten the best of me. I like to think I'm systematic and logical but the MPC is convoluted and illogical. But the MPC still wins.

SO -

for example. I load a XPM from the USB, and save it to the SD and it is no longer a XPM it's a XPJ.

Also it seems that it's only and XPJ and you can't switch file types to see the samples contained within.

an XPJ is a project file? SO everything, Sequences, XPM and samples ahhh I can't keep all this stuff straight.

so
another FYI.

I made a few songs with the MPC Studio

if I look at the USB drive before putting it in the ONE, it shows all the samples and files for each project. The MPC ONE doesn't see that - just the XPJ

also- something I remember about the 2KXL was being able to put all pads on an FX at once. Seems like with this model MPC ONE you have to click each pad and set an insert to your desired fx. I wish I could just change the entire XPM FX sending

Seems you haven't gone through the manual to fully understand effects.
You can.

so... still logical issues...

I wanted to basically, just save a folder of WAVs from RAM(from USB) into a folder on the SD card. It didn't save them as WAVs, but a XPJ file. So- that's fine right? I just load that and then I access the samples and make programs ect. But the problem is, say I want to add a drum kit to this project, the XPJ file takes the place of the whole of the RAM. It's basically not letting me use samples from different XPJ files. If I load the XPJ for my 'Strauss' samples, if I want drums for that I load my 'MPC500' XPJ but then tha 'Strauss' samples are gone.

still gonna chip away at this... One thing I'll say about the "ONE" j/k

When saving and loading, the icons at the top of the window show the different file types... but those buttons don't seem to work.

still testing

ya...

now when I look at a USB drive with a folder of WAVs and want to 'load all' it only loads one of them...

man how did this happen? I think my device got buggy. Only thing I can think of is that.... My friend updated the firmware.. it's at 2.10.0

Saving a project (i.e. the current memory) saves a project, XPJ. This consists of a single file (XPJ_ and a separate projectData folder containing all the sounds, kits and other stuff that make up the project. This projectData folder is hidden by default, you don't normally need to see it, but you can by enabling hidden folders using the gear icon in the browser. You can use this to browse the contents of other previously saved projects and load specific kits from those projects into your current one.

To save a program only, you need to go to MAIN > program row pencil icon > Save current program,

However, it really sounds like you need to check out the chapter in the manual about using the browser, there is nothing you mention that isn't just user error, it's not a buggy MPC, it's a buggy user :) Happy to help, but you really need to spend a little time familiarising yourself with the basic operation of the browser, then come back when you have any specific questions.

ya...

formatted USB in MPC
formatted SD in MPC

just trying to load a folder of WAVs

Ah HaH!

You have to use the LOAD ALL button when you're outside of a folder of WAVs

it doesn't work inside your desired folder of WAVs

I just got so frustrated because everytime I want to test this machine either I'm forgeting, or have some type of learning disability now of how to use it. I've never been this confused ever about how to use an MPC.

I did look at the manual but I figured that if I could do what I normally do which is pretty basic, I'd be happy.

OK... forget everything... still learning...

I've loaded a sample, created a new slice XPM... named it...

but how do I save JUST The program? Like, I don't want to save an XPJ

are we supposed to mastermind a huge XPJ file with anything we could ever want so it's all accessible? I thought MPCs let you make a program (with samples) and save that on it's own

ya I'm staring at the machine- looking at SAVE

I just want to save a XPM . single XPM file for my sliced up sample. I see no option or way to designate it as a XPM- i have this feeling it's gonna just save it as a XPJ
