I wouldn't make any hasty generalizations until we see an Andy Mack video.

Remember, Xpand!2, Mini Grand, and DB-33 only require 1GB of RAM. The rest of the AIR VSTi's only require 4GB, so it is possible that they either upgraded the RAM with a new SoC, or they made optimized versions of older plugins, just like how Vaccum Pro became Tubesynth.

Fabric XL may very well be a scaled down version of Structure. Don't doubt Akai, I think they still have some rabbits to pull out of the hat.

Don't get me wrong , I hope sales will be great for Akai since it will help improving the MPC line (and Force)

Why buy it? Just like some people have the Live for on the Go and the One for in the studio, this would replace the One for in the studio.

Also, I think too many people are thinking that this is for current MPC owners.

This product was made to add new users to the community and to attempt to convert NI users. NI is currently failing terribly at standalone products, this makes the Komplete Kontrol and Maschine+Combo look less and less appealing.

I don't doubt Akai, it is just that with current Ram and Cpu it will never happen, otherwise we would already have Loom, Vacuum and so on.
Then if they upgrade the Soc, they also have to make a specific firmware just for Key61.
I don't think that's the case with key61, unless I lost some information about more Ram and a more powerful CPU and a specific firmware just for key61

I just hope that Akai is as close to what I want as possible (listed below). If they can do all this, I would be very happy and have a little less cash.

-full MPC engine: this should take the MPC engine and supercharge it. Get rid of the limitations such as how few audio tracks are available (or make these types of limits so large that they are de facto unlimited). Modernize some of the workflow.
- the MPC engine serves as the "base" for the system
- 2 "MPC Keys" engines
(1) synth engine: this engine would be able to handle additive synthesis, FM synthesis, wavetable synthesis, and subtractive synthesis. The synth engine should have emulations of all different types of everything (oscillators, filters, etc with emulations from modular systems, classic synths, etc).
(2) rompler engine: this product should be a proper workstation. Proper workstations need the ability to generate all types of instruments.
- Each of the "MPC Keys" engines can have 16 parts and would basically be "plugins" within the main MPC engine
- unlimited polyphony (or de facto unlimited polyphony)

- 8 combi jacks for inputs
- 8 pairs of stereo outputs
- 8 midi out and 8 midi in
- 8 pairs of CV and gate outputs

- enough CPU and ram that you can *basically* use this as a replacement for an entire DAW, not just a workstation or a sampler (I am not saying that it has to handle 200 tracks of virtual instruments with full effects chains on each track but I should be able to get fully fleshed out songs with somewhat dense arrangements from just the keyboard)
- I would say what I want from a control surface perspective but we already know it will be too sparse. In an ideal world, there would be buttons and knobs across basically the entire panel.

Why is this MPC X/MPC Live II owner already saying yes to buying the MPC Keys 61?

Yeah I know it's redundant, to be perfectly honest it's gear lust and greed and all though I don't really have room for it, I will make room for it, because I want it.
