Thx @NewAkaiUser, but this is the MPC 2.11 Firmware discussion, not MPC software. That split between standalone and DAW users is a bit awkward, let alone people using both.
AKAI communication and naming of these products sucks, sorry to say. Just a mess.

Then why are you asking if you are outraged that someone is answering.
BTW: Synth content is part of the firmware update, so kick rocks.

Yea that was not being outraged about what you said. But you could go create a MPC 2.11 Software thread where people give a **** about how to use it. That way people can stay on topic. :smoker:

Go make a new topic yourself because you don't know what you're talking about dude.
For your information, I do not use MPC Software and I did not bring up this topic here.
Either throw yourself a chillpill or get some sleep because you're not thinking straight.

This new bug is way easier to trigger than I first said.

Plug a hardware synth in, set track 1 to midi in and out both on channel 1 one and set it to IN or MERGE
Add a second track set to a plugin, no midi in
Make track 2 the "live" track and test that hitting the pads produces sound.
Play C2 note on the synth and you'll get sound, whilst continuing to hold that down press the C2 pad on MPC and it will not play anything. The inverse is also true i.e. hold C2 pad down and then try playing C2 on synth; no audio. Playing 2 different notes works as expeced.

I knew i was gonna need some Raid for this update! :Sigh: :WTF:

Sorry, I made myself a fool. :Sigh:

Some euro-centrism here, I guess.

Can somebody tell me where to download the extra content after the update? The updater in the standalone hinted on this, but I can't quite figure out what it is I have to do.

cosmac-vip wrote:I looked at the calendar, it’s the 23rd of June, around noon in Berlin, I logged into my Akai account, after some hassles it finally worked, and there’s no 2.11 firmware download.

Akai no pro, bro.

I mean, either you set a fixed release date, like you did, post it everywhere and then you keep your promise at all costs. Because you are not a joke. Or at least, you apologize, when you find you can’t meet your schedule. Because shit happens around release time and everyone knows it.

Or, like almost everyone else does, you announce it like “to be released around… somewhere in… expected in..”

I think a proper title for the thread would be “Akai intends to finish 2.11 firmware in late June”.

I better stop ranting now, but as a former developer of MIDI software, I could speculate the original developer left for some reason and couldn't be bothered to document his cryptic spaghetti code, and now it's just constant guesswork and poking around.

It looks to me they are using some global table for the currently playing notes, where it is supposed to be per track now, since the previous update which introduced playing in realtime on multiple tracks at the same time.

This may introduce some considerable rewrite in parts of the system, depending on how you structured your code before. At some point they will have to bite into that bullet..

Bradley Smith wrote:IN testing the midi not-off bug I think they've sort of fixed it... and sort of made it worse. I'll try to be thorough in my description:

Argon synth, big pad sound loaded, set to midi channel 2, connected using DIN straight to MPC

Track 1 :
Set as midi track
Midi Input : All Ports, Channel 2
Midi output : MPC, channel 2

Playing notes on the argon = audio out of the argon

MPK Mini set to midi channel 1

Track 2 :
Set as plugin, Atomic pluck
Midi In : All Ports, channel 1
Midi out None.

Tracks 1 and 2 both set to MERGE

Play C2 on Argon = get Pad sound
Play C2 on MPK Mini = NOTHING... until I release C2 on the Argon, i.e. you now cannot play the same note on two different instruments

WHAT THE ACTUAL!!!!???

Bradley Smith wrote:Hoping to see if the midi note-off bug is fixed this evening. It won't be I'm sure.

I haven't had time to test that yet but my hopes are very low. I'm not sure the new "MIDI filter" functions really address that problem either.

Calcaire wrote:NOOOOO they have switched the midi note off bug with a midi note on conflict :((((+)

Thanks Bradley I ll investigate further next week

I am testing right now, trying to route 2 different MIDI controllers through the MPC to play the same MIDI note # on two different channels on a Virus module and it seems to be the case. The only sound that comes out is on the Virus channel that received the MIDI note on message first.

Everyone talking about new plugins and key61.
But let's talk about 2.11 update contents.
I really really like Air Flavour.
It has also a amp sim inside (Timbre) you can tweak with vinyl distortion and noise.
I do find it excellent.
It works also great on output insert .
You put a Megaphone timbre at 100%, assign it to a qlink and then get down to 0 or the other way round.
Very very nice to make the song move and sound like an old vinyl and then slowly back to normal and so on.
I think I am gonna use it a lot.
The Air amp sim is also excellent to give strength to bass with bass amp.
