New Plugins Available to Buy From Akai

Any chance us MPC X users who spent $2000+ for our MPCs get these plugins for free (or an even further reduced package price)? It kinda sucks that a new MPC Key 61 that costs $300+ less than an MPC X doesn't get these plugins for free or a very serious discount. Granted I bought my X back in April 2019, but still. They're still saying $2200 (Out of Stock) on Akai's website for the X, so obviously it hasn't went down in price.

This is why the new XXL will be released in 2023.

I guess you could see it the other way around. MPC X IS a 2000$ unit. While the key 61 is a 1200 unit with a 700 plugins package.

Is there anyway to pay in $ from the MPC Store if you’re from the UK?

I travel to the US with work sometimes so was wondering if I bought the license in the US, would it work OK once I got back to the UK to add it to my MPC One?

I presume you just get a license key?

The license should work, yes, it's just a serial. Whether or not you have to pay VAT (I assume this is ultimately what you're getting at?) will depend on how Fastspring (their card procesor) determines what your VAT status is. They probably won't charge VAT if you buy it in the US on a US card with a US billing address. Otherwise, who knows, sometimes it's based on billing address sometimes ip address.

Wow I can’t believe some in here wants these for free, some not happy with the price and some are just mad at Akai. I knew I would read some stuff to make me laugh in here but I did not expect that much.

Question tho: What do you guys expect Akai as a company that need to generate income do? Seriously?

Start your own software/hardware music business, hire engineers, software developers, marketing ect…pay those people, do R&D and give things away for free or at a very reasonable discounted price and see how long your company will last. If you do succeed, come back in here and tell us how wrong Akai is

I agree with you there. I bought the X specifically since it was going to be my only piece of gear for restarting up my music production hobby. I wanted to future-proof myself by having a sampler/sequencer with the most capabilities, including the X's 16 Q-links and OLED displays above them, 2 XLR/1/4" input jacks with phantom power, 8 CV (in case I ever get modular gear), etc. I'm happy with my purchase, and I realize all these extra parts cost extra to put into a piece of music gear.

I don't expect them for free (would be nice, considering that I paid $2100 for my X), and I'd be willing to pay a fair amount for them (if they're worth it). But considering I bought the most expensive of the current line of MPCs, how about a price differential ($2200-$1900=$300) cut on the $500 package price. So it only costs me $200 for the package. They've already gotten $300 extra from me than they'll get from people purchasing the Key 61. In any event, unless the complete package gets at or below $200, it's beyond my price point and budget to be able to afford to purchase.

But you said you bought your X at that price 3 years ago. Akai offered a lot of free and discounted stuff for X users, I know because I had an X. It’s been 3 years since you got your X. How can you still expect a discount? How is a company going to make a profit if they keep doing that? What other company you know that keep giving like this? If you know please tell me so I can go support that company

All I know is that I've been buying plugins and software for a long time, and rarely do I EVER pay FULL PRICE for anything. Seriously, we are all bombarded with emails about this constantly, am I right? 75% off, 50% off, BOGO, TWO DAY SALE!!! I can't imagine that there won't be deals or specials coming on these, and probably soon! People mentioning Arturia and NI, those all go on 50% deals constantly, why would this stuff be any different, especially if Akai is taking cues from their competition? If I bought an MPC X I'd probably want some fair treatment too, until then I'm holding on the deal that I know is coming

The only company I know that gives lifetime free updates is image-line but they get their money from plugins and other stuff and I still don’t understand how they still do that after so long

Sorry to disappoint you but there is a good reason why the X is much more expensive.Knobs,knobs,knobs,BIG display,oleds,oleds,oleds,outputs,outputs,outputs…why do you think you deserve a big discount over any other user just because you paid way more but you also GOT way more with the X?

So you want a $300 discount on their latest software plugins because the hardware you bought 3 years ago is currently $300 more expensive that some completely different hardware they only just released (three years later)? My head is spinning.
