The new plugins do look visiually amazing if nothing else ;) Hopefully this means they will be opening up to third-party creators so Tutor can work his magic on the MPC Samples collections. It would be awesome if they had amazing GUI as well to go along with the always top-notch quality Tutor and pad pimps provide.

......I do agree with everyone on the price. I was hoping for £50 max per instrument!

Great that there’s a new offering for people who believe that they need this.
I am just annoyed that they added all these extra features to the software to accommodate these plugins but there’s still no tags and favorites in sample browser.

Why should they let you turn your old mpc into the same as they new one sans keys for a couple hundred bucks? Think about it.. why would anyone buy the keys if you could get the same thing for a grand plus a midi controller? That just doesn't make sense.. this use not competing with plug ins.. it is a mpc.. it is great you can have such a well rounded one, but it is not free.. currently you can have basically everything for around $1400 with a one and the bundle, pretty great deal I think.. not everything is gonna be free, a Roland fantom cost about the same for the cheap one..

lol $500 divided by 9 is $55USD. not close, but not too far away either. Thankfully I got them before the price went up and people REALLY start complaining lol

Agreed. Hopefully my $500 donation to Akai for the instrument collection will motivate these developers to get working on a Tagging system and Favorites for keygroups/drum programs.

I own both an MPC X for the studio and an MPC One that I like to take on the go with me. Please tell me I wouldn't have to double purchase them in order to use them on both units.

I don't plan on getting them anytime soon, gonna wait for a sale, but anyone that could shine some light on my question would be much appreciated.

I believe a single license should cover three 'environments' (e.g. 2 computer & 1 standalone, or perhaps 3 standalone), but you'd need to check with Akai, we might have had different arrangements while beta testing.

Well, I got them all installed on 2 MPCs standalone so at least I know you have have them on 2 different standalone devices.

I get what you're saying, but a Maxed out MPC One at £1600 would sell precisely zero units. Even with all the new instruments it is not a £1600 bit of equipment. I'm not complaining per se. I'm pretty happy (bar the new midi channel bug) with what I got for the money, I just don't think that a bunch of sample based software plugins at £1000 (I know it's on discount but Akai are saying this is £1000 of software) really match up with a machine priced like the MPC One is. It maybe makes more sense for those with the higher end units though.

Well, it's not really 9 plugins, Fabric is basically one plugin, albeit split into 4 different UIs, I assume for performance reasons. They all share the same sounds folder and could have easily been combined into a single plugin, using switches to change to 'Performance UI' for the pianos, and 'HQ' for Fabric XL.

I noticed the email today claims the $499 is a 'limited time offer'. Until of course 'the end of summer sale', then 'halloween bonanza', then 'black friday madness', then 'cyber monday blowout'., then 'due to popular demand we've extended the never-to-be-repeated sale by 24 hours, just for you'... etc, etc :)

Do you think the price of the collection will likely go up after the 'limited time offer'?

And do you think the cost will go down lower that £499 / $499 in the future?

I really want them but £499 is a lot and I'd be pretty upset if they went down lower in the future...

Well we've discussed this a fair bit in this very topic, it's all a big lark. 'time limited' with no actual deadline is fairly meaningless IMO. These plugins will be available cheaper over time, the bundle may vary in price, there will be promo codes, account exclusives, black friday, shrove tuesday blowout, etc. If you need it now, just buy it and enjoy it. Or just wait for a year or so until they maybe knock another $50 off the bundle.

Personally, I'd be looking at getting a deal on the hardware, you get the plugins included.

The prices in this industry are completely arbitrary. If I develop the very replicated pulteq eq I can say the are valued 2000 or whatever. Then I can start making sales. If I am a 1 man band selling 10000 units of my plugin at 29,99, it will make me 300000. so my margin from selling them from 2000 to 30 is pretty big. I know almost nobody will buy it at 2000 but I create the feeling of value and or luxury (taken that the plugin is good enough). Then every step I take from 2000 to 30 and inbetween would look like it is a great discount, a nobrainer...
If akai sell these as hot cake at a price of 250 for the bundle for instance, they will be making 2.5 Mill with just 10000 copies sold. That kind of money for sure covers the expenses of developing such a product. They playing the captive game and the urgent game is not new. Apple does it a lot for the former, and as mentioned before other companies in the music industry do the latter all the time.

After some time with Fabric XL, I'd be fine if they combined it with the stock sampler and let you put your own samples in. It actually has more features, LFOs that don't sync to keys, etc.

I've requested that they add user sample support to fabric, along with a few other improvements (e.g. option to lock layer 1 and 2 parameters together so I can apply the same envelope, filter settings, etc across both layers), temporary 'solo layer' button to aid with editing.

Fabric is split up because of older mpc so you don't kill all the resources using it..

Mpc one had always been a steal. Same price I paid for my 1000 back in the day.. it just depends how much you are willing to invest in the ecosystem.. sure you don't have to and for most it would be better to just get a mc101.. Roland had much better rompler, been doing this much longer.. for me it is worth it because I don't want Roland.. I like mpc.
