hello mpc heads, thought i'd share this banal finding, maybe it can turn out useful to somebody.
i'm preparing a liveset ( in fact the sonorization of a 20's silent film, Haxan) for this sunday and i needed one track with a percussion program to listen specifically to one midi port (i have an eurorack module that converts analog triggers to midi notes, im using it to drive a drum program with a 3 channels euclidean sequencer for polyrhythms, cool rhytmic stuff...).i'm on the live mk1 so i hooked up the midi cable from the module to mpc midi input 1, chosen the appropriate port and channel on the midi track on the mpc and it worked perfectly.
But i noticed the incoming midi was affecting other midi tracks too, so i went in each of them and put their track monitoring status to OFF, but that didn't solve it, and this started to sound strange to me. i even put every track to midi in = none, but no way, the module was still triggering the other tracks.
SOLUTION: in the preferences, under MIDI you now see a GLOBAL tab in each midi input and output port, that's the one used for the keysplits and key layerings available with 2.11 i think, and by default every midi input has GLOBAL on by default, you just need to disable it unless you want that particular port to override tracks settings and be in control of the game (like the keys on mpc key when you use more programs on the same keyboard).
hope this is useful.
