ConvertWithMoss - anyone use this?

Hi, first post here...I'm a keyboard player who's never had an MPC, but I'm currently looking seriously at the MPC 61 keys.

What's holding me back from pulling the trigger is that I can't figure out how tough it will be to sample an external synth or plugin and get it into keygroup format. (Just to be clear, I'm looking at doing multisamples across the full range of keys, at least a couple of velocity layers).

I have samplerobot which works great for auto-sampling and getting something into formats like Kontakt. But there's no Akai export option. So I need to convert the SampleRobot exported files (which could be .WAV, sfz, kontakt...basically any format but Akai lol) to Akai's keygroup format.

What's the consensus here on the best/fastest way to do this? Is the ConvertByMoss the best option? (I've seen another thread here on Chicken Translator, and I ran across something called KitMaker which *might* convert from something like sfz to a keygroup).

Any responses are appreciated! I like the concept of the MPC 61 as a great production scratchpad and a serviceable workstation for gigging, but the icing on the cake would really be some sort of multisample import process that doesn't make me tear my hair out

The mpc has it’s own built in autosampler, no need to worry about conversion apps. Just hook up your synth to your mpc and the autosampler will take care of the whole recording and keygroup creation process. Those other apps are good for keygroup creation when you already have existing samples or instruments in other formats

If you already have SampleRobot you have IMHO the best sampling tool, especially for sampling VST plugins.
Simply export as SFZ and then use ConvertWithMoss to create the Akai keygroup files.

Thanks guys - I just pulled the trigger on the 61. I'll try both approaches ('direct' as well as the SR approach for sample sets I've created/will create that way) and will report back on how it went
