I have my Live2 since the days it came out, and used it most of the time in standalone mode, but till now I never used audio tracks... Cause when I needed that kind of stuff I am in different config, connected to a computer.
Last night I was laying down ideas of beats and keys, totaly in standalone mode. I decided to take a look at these audio tracks to record live my keys (played from a program) when I realized that it was impossible to internally record live the output of anything else but Hardware Audio Input 1/2!! No other input settings!!
Either I'm totally stupid, or if this is the stupidest bug (or whatever you call it) in the MPC firmware. I hope I am stupid, but I cannot find a way to do so except by physically connecting OUTs to INs with 2 audio cables!
I'm running 2.11 firmware
Any ideas?

I mean I simply want to record internal synth or program, played with the pads live directly to an audio track. Simply to leave myself play and record it into an audio track. I know the BOUNCE stuff. But this not at all what i’m looking for.
Btw, thanks for your reply

Why are you wanting to record your performance directly to an audio track? If you are working with a MIDI device (e.g. internal synths or sample programs, external synths etc), then just record your performance as MIDI data to a MIDI track. When you play back, it will trigger the keys performance exactly as you played it.

Just turn off 'global timing correct' in the 'tc' screen, hit REC and PLAY START and record your keys performance. It will be saved in MIDI format and you can then render it to pure audio using bounce, or keep it as MIDI for further editing.

Because it would just be cool.... I know what you mean, MIDI is MIDI. I do agree but I think it is a shame from a coding point of view not to populate the internals OUTs (MAINS, SUBs, PROGRAMs) as INPUTs to the audiotrack and to the sampler/looper.

I finally did it this way. No TC while playing, then render. Obviously it works. But it's a pity in terms of spontaneity and creativity! You ARM an audiotrack, select the internal source of your choice , et voilà!! Final point. Then you can get in the parts you like, tweak them.... and even create new programs from parts of your perf. For me, musically, it makes sense.
I would have preferred so much this type of feature than this "new" sound browser in which you cannot even listen to the previews of programs... (that is a nonsense musically speaking)
Thanks btw

You underestimate the CPU load for rendering while playing live ;)
A regular render process is offline, without the limitations of timing slots as they happen live, in particular the concurrent „writing to disk process“.

I don't think so. It is not a question of CPU load at all. Whether you use Looper, Sampler or Audiotrack, the incoming audio is DA converted AND store to RAM. The time limitations on MPC comes from this as we do not benefit of disk streaming yet. It is only when you decide to keep you recordings (for looper and sampler) or after pressing the STOP button (for audio track) the temp file in RAM is written to SD or SSD. And load back to RAM when you use it. It is simply a question of populating the internal digital OUTs to the post AD on the INs.
I took a look at the sampler and looper INs. Actualy I was wrong. You can choose MIX (R+L) for the INs. BUT RESAMPLED! SO it means DA+AD signal treatment......
Btw I'll submit a request... we'll see. But I don't feel this will be taken seriously by AKAI

Seems like you‘re after the feature that‘s sometimes called „render in place“ or „freeze track“ to create a new sample for further processing.
(my original interpretation was doing that live while sequencer is running)
At least for studio work the freezing could be handled muted and with a short delay, after which you may continue on whatever screen.
Best of luck with your request ;)

nope, not the same thing, because the OP wants to be able to record to an audio track in realtime his performance on an internal plugin, keygroup or whatever, while bounce in place or freeze and flatten are offline tasks. i can see the benefit of that. these are little details that can make a major difference for individual users. another example: i was able, in mpc 4000 and 1000\2500 with jj, to write with sequencer stopped, just hitting REC and banging on pads, the sequencer would advance of one tick (based on TC resolution) and i was able to enter pauses just by hitting the -> arrow when i wanted. this made my chopped breaks programming really fast, and i cannot do it with the mpc live. it wouldn't matter much to the vast majority of users, but for me it would be a game changer.now i'm forced to do it writing in grid edit mode, using a pencil, not the same thing because the old way allowed me to bang on pads with different velocities, it was really fast and ergonomic.
