Used MPC Live: Is it totaled?

Hello, I’m new to MPC and trying to learn on a used machine I got at a low price. Problem is, this one seems to have major issues.
Biggest issue is the DAC seems dead; I can’t get any sound out of the built-in outputs or the headphones. However if I plug in my trusty 2002 Edirol USB audio interface I can get audio signal out this way.
The other major issue is all 4 of the QLink knobs are completely unresponsive.
So far I really like the machine, the sounds, and the massive storage potential. But I don’t know if it’s worth trying to repair this machine. Do MPC repairs cost a lot? I bet I need a new main board and more.
Seems like I never learn: you get what you pay for.

Not sure where the DAC actually lives, but that might be on the main board.. The audio outputs are on their own board I believe so maybe you'll get lucky and its just a bad output board. Could even be some cables disconnected inside too. The Q-Links are on their own board as well, and they all use those thin ass flat cables like you see inside laptops so maybe a couple of those slipped out?

Okay, I got the QLinks working, did not know the knobs for the encoders had to be conductive.
I was hoping there would be an "output board" like on my old MC-909 but all the audio jacks are soldered to the largest board on the MPC Live. This board sells on MPCStuff.com so maybe I will save my pennies for that.

Did you buy it knowing it was faulty? Or can you get a refund?

Hah, I was able to get 3,4 and 5,6 working. So the problem is just the master volume control. For the money I paid this was a sweet deal.

Also asking the big question: did you do a system preferences reset after buying it? Always good to do a reset when buying used gear... (though I suspect that won't fix your bad master volume control).

It is 100% fixed now. So many things to learn! 4 out of 6 of the volume knob's pins were snapped off. Once I replaced the volume knob, all good.
No wonder the MPC Live 2 moved that knob to the front panel!
