I've had a bit of a hard start and downloading all content has come with a slightly skewed approach. I've had my MPC live for a few weeks now (not from new). But I haven't really started with anything, because there really isn't any real content (samples, sounds, etc.), just as I find it difficult to maneuver in the browser (I don't know what content should be there and where throughout the file system and structure). I know it may sound like a bit of a mouthful, but I still hope that there is someone here who will be able to help with some practical advice - I hope.

Even though your Live is used, if you activate your InMusic/Akai account and register it, that should give you access to a ton of free content - including some Expansions. That said, if the previous owner deleted a bunch of factory content off of yours, then you might be missing factory samples and content (as Lampdog said - there's a ton of usable content). But be forewarned: do *NOT* install any content onto the factory storage. It's small/limited and there is no easy way to backup projects or content. Install an SSD and install everything on that, or at least use an SD Card/USB Stick/Drive.

Go to loopmasters.

Find some sample packs you like and then see if there's the 'download taster' option. If so, click it and get some free samples.

If you Google 'free sample packs' or expansions, I'm sure you'll find loads there as well.

Those, on top of the free content you've been directed towards, will be enough to crack on. You can also resample the onboard synths.

Cheers
