REASON 3.0 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah it does not need audio in or vst support. if you want to use it with other applications, then just use rewire.

the thing about the mastering suite is that it will never replace the professional mastering stage. no one is going to commercially release (im talking on a major label level here, large indie too) a song bounced out of reason--just like no one takes a song off of their mpc or triton and releases it.

timbo has done whole songs on the triton, but it will always be brought to a studio for various outboard gear, and will be properly mixed and mastered. same goes with alchemist who has done whole songs on the asr10...it is always brought to a studio before it is commercially released.

the point im getting at is reason should have added more instruments, or modified exisitng ones, because that is their strong suit. the soft-synths/samplers are of more use to professionals than a mastering suite, because professionals will never abandon the mastering stage.

i use reason a lot, it is a nice tool. but propellerhead needs to decide whether they are catering to real professionals or to prosumers. sure prosumers will do a song 100% in reason and then bounce it and put it on a cd for their homies. but a professional uses reason through rewire so that it can be used in conjunciton with other equipment, and thus it is the instruments and fx that are important.

or at least thats what i think haha. i was just hoping to get new instruments or better versions of the existing ones, haha nevermind my rant.

I agree with frankly, but the reason I think they added the mastering suite is for people who don't have access to a facility that can do mastering for them. This is a good way for people to get there work done and get it online or burned to CD's to get there work out for people to hear it

if you have pro-tool, all of thier expensive plug-in and know how to use them why go to a studio? Reason 3.0 is just a rack of samplers, loop players, drum machines, synths and effects. period. Reason is just like triton, fanton, es6 or whatever you put into your rack. there is nothing magical about it. it is just a rack.

the bottom line is whether you use software, hardware, both, studio or no studio you must have talent beacause at the end of the day all of these things are tools.

but Reason is a great tool.

enjoy your 3D days while you can man because the 3D days are numbered, you know. all the major hardware companies are developing software. why? you sound like an individuals when cable became popular "i would never get/pay for cable. i paid to much for my antenta and i do not need all those channels". now that same individual has cable plus all the premium channels and a cable modem.

Well you sound like the guys who dumped their analogs when the DX 7 came out, or the people who thought that accoustic instruments were dead when synths with sample playback came out.



Severely doubtful that 3D days are numbered, just look at the software controller market and how many dissatisfied customers they have. Also, SSL sales are at a high because they need them to track their PT tracks through so they don't sound like garbage.

I get a kick out of people who hold cardboard that says "The end is Near" because they are always wrong.

It's all love tho Mwalker, I know you aren't just shooting off your mouth, I respect that opinion, but I don't put too much stock in predictions.

Elmacacoa is right, 3d days are not numbered. Software is great, I love it and use it daily. The combination of soft/hard is the only way to go IMO, but lets be real...soft has replaced some hardware, but it will never make hardware obsolete.

Major recording studios will have collection of high end plugins, but they still have their aresenal of hardware outboard gear, and of course analog consoles. I have been to my fair share of recording studios that cater to the major labels, and SSL's, Neve's, API's, etc are all still in use.

Here we go with the software barfing, man the only thing that counts is if you banging out sick beats/music i dont care if it came from beating on a paint cann and some kitchen pots, I myself keep it 50/50 , I love some vintage stuff i dont care how old, and then theres always something new in the market that catches my interest, Reason is some dope stuff but they gotta make up their mind on being some pro stuff or just for any john trying to make music

i hear all of you guys, yes i do have cassette walkman but i do love my i-pod that much more.

the bottom line is whatever works for you is cool with me. i love the quaility of music and do not care if it was made with hardware or software or both. like i said a million times before i perfer a live band. i will take a 9 piece tama wrap around drum kit before any hardware or software any day.

Elmacaco, it is all love and i also respect who you are (very knowledgable person). most individuals here are beginners/bedroom producers and i do own 14 tone module, hardware effect, 32 channel mixer, 4 pairs of studio monitors, acoutic guitar, electic guitar and drums but if you are starting out and do not have the funds for a nice hardware setup software can get the job done at a friction of the cost. if an individual can afford the "top of the line" hardware great but most cant. software is an alternative, therefore if you want to make music/beats and do not have 10(s) of thoudsands of dollars Reason 3.0 (along with other software) will/could be a good starting point. period.

I hear you MWalker, I started with software myself, but it only drove me to get hardware little by little and I enjoy working with it much better than using anything computer based.

I love my ipod too! But I still have a 4 track cassete deck and Nuendo, which I use for different purposes. Again, nothing is obsolete if you know how to use it, some things are straight drawbacks, and others are great advantages. It depends on how you work.

so which one of you lot has got the program....hook me rass up nuh!
