New user, new questions, Q-link sequence

Hi im a new user, and i got the mpc for 2 weeks. I cant figure out how to use the q-link sequencer. I dont even fully understand what it does.
Is itt hat you can add different q-link setting for each 16th of a measure in the beat??

Everytime i alter the settings of each q-link knob in a row, nothing changes, how does this work exectaly?? peace

Freedom has an excellent tutorial on how the Qlink sequence works. Check around for older post for the link.

Hi, after you have selected your Q-Link knob/slider settings that you want,
you can turn it on/off per Qlink knob via the F soft function keys. Also, rememember
to have the actual Q-link sequence button (the one above Pad Assign) turned on, to
globally turn on the sequence. This is nice, because you can manually turn all the Q-Link
sequences on and off on the fly. So sometime's I"ll have a crazy Q-link sequence setup
that has everything going everyware (FX and internal parameter settings) that you can
switch on, on the fly as a sort of Fill in variation.

that q-link stuff is just plane fun, ive been tweaking with it for weeks

Does anyone know what the active button does exactely?? Sometimes when i skip to another sequence, the q-link resets automaticaly while i havent turned the reset q-link function.

each sequence/pattern has its own q sequence, if the q links are set to reset on every pattern (global) it will automatikly reset your q links on every pattern

if the actif key is lid: realtime knob movements will overwrite recoded ones..

No i turned that off, so how come it resets everytime???

As usually renegadebliss in on point with the info, adding to that the qlink sequence function control the internal parameters of the sampler which you can freely assign according to the page (recieve everything inside the 4k) or Send (external devices). If you go to the send page you change the knob to control change, pad mixer, and so on. I tend to work it as a djing tool blending and effecting tracks realtime. Once you have recorded your qlink sequence to a track (it`s only midi info) you can assign your qlink function to another parameter. Download manual MPC4K_V130_E.pdfthat go into more details on the possiblilites of the qlink. Oh yes the Freedom tutorial is definitively on point too.

HI Mohammed,
Did you mean above that you turned off the active key or did you mean
that you turned off the global reset q-link feature parameter?


I'm guessing that you mean you turned off the active key. All that does
is make it so that when you tweak the knob that it won't overide
the sequence. Turn it back on and you can overide the sequence with
the knob/slider.

What Glide meant, is on the "Global" page (i think it's their, if not check Misc.)
their is a parameter that you can tell MPC to reset the Q-Link sequence
when you switch sequences or to not reset it. You'll want to turn
it off, so that it won't reset it.
