Because I have my better speakers plugged into the MPC sometimes I just want to listen to music from my computer or even a podcast. I've used a mini jack to RCA lead to go from computer to the MPC (selecting Phono) but the audio is all distorted no matter what my record volume is on.

Mt guess is it's something to do with phono level? How can I achieve this? Line lievel doesn't seem to work.

Thanks in advance

As you can probably tell I'm not too experienced. I tried line level but I don't get any level showing. Does anyone know the correct way to connect the computer to use as a listening source (I'm using sampler mode as I was assuming that's what would work but maybe that's wrong too.)

Phono is only for turntables.
You want line level input.
3.5mm to 1/4" inputs.

Maybe your laptop‘s output level is too low. I‘d suggest turning said level to max and then check your MPC‘s input level again.

Controller mode, then set a Akai sound driver in the preferences of your daw or your computer
