New to this forum, but eager to get my 61 keys and start learning it. I haven't heard anything from my guy at Sweetwater (he said August last time I emailed him)...did those of you who already got it from them put money down? I am apparently 'fairly early on the list,' whatever that means. Should I bug my guy?

Bought mine from guitar center on the way home from work the day it came out.
They were still unloading it from the van when I rolled up. 5 total in store, I got the 2nd one.

I’ve heard from several people that Sweetwater has been slow on getting them to customers.

So far there’s only 1 thing I don’t like, but, I knew it way before the purchase and the pros tremendously outweigh the cons. 16 q-links!

Mpc X has me really spoiled with this.
I liked them on mpc4000 and when I saw 16….

When Akai Drops the Key 88, It'll have 16 Q-Links and Full Size Pads

**fingers crossed**

That and put a tilt screen on it also and I'll trade in the Key61 for it.
I DO NOT want an 88, but, I'll do that, INSTANTLY.

Yup same here. That's why I did not pick up a Key 61. I'm good with my MPC-X until the next Key iteration comes out.

I gave up on Sweetwater pre-order when I saw that Akai had them in stock at their site. I ordered last night, it shipped today. It may be less expensive than Sweetwater , I’m not sure if they charge State sales tax or not, but Akai was $1899.00 flat. I’m not very patient with new gear, and couldn’t wait. Neither my Sweetwater or Kraft Music reps would confirm what their allotment was on this shipment.

Welcome.

Let us know what you think about it whenever. It surprised me. My plan was to flip it on ebay.
A friend told me “stop playing, your keeping it!”
Me: No I’m not.
Friend: Yes you are.
Me: Well after a few buyers flaked on me AND me messing with more, I’m keeping it cause I like it now”.

Friend will read this soon and laugh.

I’ve had the Live 2 for about a year. I did purchase OPx4 for it. Then I decided I had to have the Key 61. Glad I noticed Akai/InMusic had stock.
I’m looking forward to posting my impression with it, and reading other owners thoughts.

Just curious - did you end up getting two (2) keys for OPx-4. since you had bought it first, but also should have gotten another copy with the Key 61? :hmmm:

I haven’t checked on the second key yet, but seems like that should be the case. The real question will be about the other expansion packs that come with Key 61, will they work on my Live 2 ? I’ll know either way this Wednesday when FedEx Ground delivers.
