MPC X/Live Hardware Condition

I’ve had my MPC X for a while now, about five years. Only issues I’ve had are some of the texts rubbing off from under a few buttons and Q links can be a little unresponsive at times. But other than that it’s been pretty cool

I’m curious to know how others are doing with their MPC after a few years of ownership.

Mines doing ok, probably same as it was new to be honest. Bought the OG Live around the end of 2019, used constantly just about every day since. I do have a skin on it though, got tired of cleaning all the dust and cat hair off the rubbery factory finish haha. No clue how well my battery is doing though. I thought the portability was going to be so awesome and it turns out the thing has never left my desk and been plugged in for awhile now. Used to let it run down the battery every few days just to keep up the cycles but got reaaaal lazy about that. Aside from the dumb ass pad perform being lit up all the time, mine's got no signs of slowing down.

For qlinks that dont always work you can do a couple things to make them work again. you can use an automotive product like dielectric grease to pass the conductivity of the pins to the knobs. pull the knobs off. put the grease on the peg and shove the knobs back on. also use rubbing alcohol to clean the knobs on the outside. They'll work good after that.

got the og live when it first dropped; works fine but the battery died about 2 years ago; and also the unit is very grubby its the most dust magnet item ever, and almost impossible to keep clean unless covered.

Yo I just got a X off EBay. I’m I doing something wrong because Im downloading the Demo’s while I’m using my headphones but no sound. And the green meter doesn’t respond either. Everything else responds Don’t tell me I got beat for $1300? And If so. I could just order the part and try and fix it myself?

Try reinstalling the the firmware and resetting the preferences after that

Got an OG Live from the first stock that hit stores. Use it damn near everyday and travel with it weekly. Use it for gigging and did a few tours with it too.

Still going strong. The battery doesn’t hold charge as long, q links fall off constantly, and the rubber coating is scratched and rubbed off on most of it. Besides that, no issues at all

I get very often disturbed by " SD card not ejected properly" pop up message .

Live 1 from 2019 , apart of this everything run fine and battery last less long, but is very usable.


Lot of gigs, touring, travel, home studio...
But this Sd card problem is a PITA

Own an MPC X for almost 3 years now (first owner). Except for the XLR repair I detailed in another post and that was basically my error everything is working perfectly hardware wise. Repairability is not too bad imho. Buttons are like new still. Deleting a Note from grid is my only real gripe but that's solely a SW thing. I use it weekly to daily depending on my spare time
I constantly get the "Download Directory not found" error though. I fixed it manually for some time by recreating the directory by hand but I have given up now and just discard the dialog since is does no harm otherwise.
