Hey what's up all. I have a MPC One and Tascam Model 12. The Tascam has Midi in/out ports (1 each) and the MPC One has the same. Could I plug in a midi keyboard into the midi in on the Tascam, then go from the out on the Tascam to the In on the MPC One and have the MPC "recognize" the midi controller plugged in without any crazy midi programming? If it does require setting up midi signals and all that what would be the general way to approach a setup like that? Thanks.

There are 3 type of Midi ports, in, out and thru. Thru is used for chaining, and sends in data on to the next device. So you''d need a midi merge unit to combine the Tascam and the Keyboard to connect to the MPC in, such as 'MIDI Solutions Merger'

Most midi devices are USB now, so there are 2 options to connect a keyboard, midi and usb. I suggest USB before investing in a merge unit.

Thanks for the input. I guess I could use USB over midi for the keyboard to the MPC and use the midi cable for the Tascam. Take it easy fam...
