cuz the pcd-47b is no where to be found.... i've looked through all the google site results...

for those that don't know... iam referring to the internal card reader that can be installed into the mpc2000xl

isn't anyone gonna answer this?

search for 50 Pin SCSI Card Reader. There are other models that will work, but it maybe trial and error. The link Bravo gave has an image of another reader that will work.

So which one is akai using? I figure akai is using one that has been mass produced therefore available in the consumer market as individual drives for the DIY'ers.

If vstservice.com can afford to install it for 199.00, then they must be selling their drive for about 100 to 150 dollars, which means that the drive probably cost between 50 and 100 in the retail/wholesale market.

LMAO. This thread is about 8 years old. it was posted back in 2005.

There is no alternative for the Microtech PCD-47B SCSI card reader. It was the SHIT! It was hot swappable (once you changed the firmware to read & write) and it was a legendary card reader complimenting the MPC's masterful performance.

Yeah, the pcd-47b scsi card readers worked nicely with the mpc2000xl. The hot swappable pcd-60b with the latest firmware also worked with the mpc2000xl. Although it is multi-slot, only the pcmcia slot is recognized but I found out that you could use both the cf and sd cards using the appropriate pcmcia card adapter. With the mpc2000xl I was able to use 16gb cards. I had a pcd-60b scsi card reader in my mpc2000xl in the past and it worked nicely too. the pcd-60b also worked nicely in an external scsi case for the mpc2000 and mpc2000xl. Hard to find but believe there a couple still listed on ebay.
