Recommendations on 3rd party extracted kits/programs

I recently downloaded a few drum kits (beat butcha filth) and notice that there are 2 different files to extract, one that says macosx (which I assume is for Apple operating systems), and another file which is I assume for windows. Both seem to have the same wav files. My desktop is a windows operated machine. My question is should I extract both and dump the files on my Live 2 SSD, or should I just extract the windows folder? I doubt if I would personally ever use an apple device. Are both of these folders necessary to get the full programs functionality? Thank you

I've never heard of third parties offering separate apple and windows versions of an expansions, not when there's a built in installer type that works on all platforms. Where was this purchased from?

Drum broker. I’m new, just figuring out the mpc format. After unzipping the downloaded drum kit (beat butcha filth), 2 folders appear, one says macosx, the other says beat butcha - filth. Both seem to have the same files, I’m just assuming that I only need one (the folder that says beat butcha -filth). In using other non music related programs, most of anything that says macosx is for an Apple interface….just asking experienced folks if one or both are needed. I’m dumping these (or one) onto my SSD within my live 2.

Can't believe they sell MPC expansions without any kind of installation guide. Actually I can believe it! Sorry, lazy retailers who expect their customers to work out how to install/use products drives me nuts.

Is it even a proper MPC expansion? Normally you would be given an XPN file which you drag into the MPC Software. If you're lucky you would also get a 'standalone' folder to drag to your standalone MPC disk. For my expansions, I offer both, but I specialise in MPC expansions.

Akai sometimes include an EXE and PKG installers for Mac/PC, just for the MPC Software. But that's not usual for third parties.

TBH, I'm wondering if the 'MACOSX' folder is nothing but a 'hidden' macos reference folder . When you create a zip file on a Mac it will also contain the hidden 'macosx' folder, which contains folder preferences and other stuff - mac users wouldn't see this, it's automatically hidden. When that zip file is viewed on a PC those folders are no longer hidden, hence you'll see a 'MACOSX' folder.

Normally a developer would use zip creation software that strips these hidden folders out.

anyway, I assume the 'kit' is the 'Filth Kit' folder. What's actually inside? Is there an XPN? Screenshot it if you wish.

from past experiences when i was into the Software side of things, I Never touched those folders. They only had the Drivers for Mac Computers.

Yes that’s the hidden macOS folder I was talking about, I suspect the files inside are just references rather than working files. Ignore and just use whatever is in the dangerous fireworks folder.
