Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have Pro-Tools, an MPC2000XL, MOTIF ES, and a Digi002.

I have everything set up where I can individually record MIDI and Audio from both the Motif and MP --but when I use the MP's pads to trigger the drum sounds (for example) in the Motif I run into this particular issue.

I can't record the MIDI "hits" that I make on the MP when I switch to the appropriate MIDI track within the MPC.

Can anyone direct me?

Are you wanting to record the midi notes on the MPC or in ProTools?

Are you getting the MPC pads to play the Motif ok? It might be a simple case of midi connections. If the MPC is triggering Motif sounds & you want those midi note to also go into ProTools you will either need a midi cable from the Motif's thru going into the computer, or you need a midi splitter box so the MPC's midi notes are going to both the Motif & the computer.

If your midi connection in just MPC out -> Motif in & then Motif out -> computer you won't get any MPC note info in the computer.

Yeah, what you say seems accurate.

I can record the MPC and Motif, control the Moptif sounds in MPC ok. In my setup the B channels control the MPC midi date... and the A channel controls the Motif's MIDI... but while in the A channel setting I can control the motif sounds via MPC yet no MIDI transmits into PT, even though I have set the out to be AB.

Is there something I need to do different?

I think I need some device (can you recommend one) that takes the mIDI and splits it... I onyl hav eone MIDI in, in PT and 2outs... but I am using them all in this setup.

How should I do it?
