Hello, i've recently acquired the bass station 2, and i've bought a midi cable to connect it to my mpc. I'm only interested in playing note from the synthesizers and recording in mpc one. So i've connected my midi out on the bass station to the mpc one's midi in.

When I play notes, i can see a little icon at the top of the mpc that shows the keys being registered. But there is no sound.

I tried also with a usb cable. That actually was able to recognize the bass station as i saw 'Bass Station' in several configuration places. But still no sound.

I see the level of the sound go up when i hit the key, but nothing in my headphones. I know there is sound because when i switched to plugin track, the keys did produce sound of the local plugins

I've looked a youtube videos, but my understanding seems to be there should be no config necessary since it's the only device connected to the mpc. Any help would be appreciated. thank you

MIDI doesn't transmit sound, EVER. So if you want to hear your bass station you need to plug the audio outputs of your bass station into something that will amplify AUDIO. MIDI is only for NOTE ON OFF informations and anything related to NOTE sequencing, not AUDIO. So everything works as it should, there is no AUDIO in MIDI.

You can plug the Bass station AUDIO out into the AUDIO IN of the MPC and monitor the bass station sound that way. AGAIN MIDI isn't going to produce any sound from an external device, just like a remote control for a TV doesn't generate the image.
