Thanks for feedback! :) I just hope it works properly. This is my first expansion so I'm still learning. Any tips, advice or feedback is appreciated.

I haven't heard it yet, but thank you in advance for sharing it freely... Are there any chances of having it already exported for MPC standalone? I don't even have a computer with the MPC software installed.

Well, I recently updated my website with a soundcloud preview link https://soundcloud.com/black-lightning-938613214/freedrumspreview?si=a731bebe1b2e46f7bc2b1486d00be877&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharingso you can listen to a few of the kits before downloading. I also recently updated the zip file to include both the xpn and the folder with all of the drum program files and samples in it for use in standalone mode without exporting through the MPC Software. Thanks for expressing your concern and please feel free to reach out if you have any other issues.

I'm playing with it right now. Quite standard, but very good drum samples.

MPC-Tutor wrote:An xpn is just a zip file, extract with your favourite zip app and copy the resulting folder to your expansions folder

You are right. Thank you!!

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, its a pretty standard Expansion, no included demo sequences or loops. The funny thing about the drum samples is that they all came from free sources (MT Power Drum Kit, Spitfire audio labs Vintage and Animal Kits, Studio Linked Drum Pro, BPB Cassette 606, 808, and 909, Sampletank 4 Custom Shop Stage Kit, Steven Slate Drums Free Edition, and a few samples from my Roland TR-6S) I just sampled all the kits and compiled them all into an easy to use expansion. Thanks again, I'm glad you like the sounds!

Those drums you've used might be free, but most are not public domain nor creative commons or any other similar licence. You can't just take all those free (i.e. demo) drum sounds and repackage them into your own kits for distribution and commercial promotion. It doesn't work like that, if you want your own acoustic drum kit sounds you need to record them yourself.

You can only repackage and redistribute other developers sounds if they specifically allow that. They'll allow you to use them to make your own music, but not to make sound libraries. And if you are using the free kit to promote a commercial site they'll most likely come down on you pretty hard.

Steven slate, spitfire, etc, those are definitely not for re-distribution in other libraries.

Thanks for the advice. I took it down. I guess now I have to go spend thousands of dollars on mics, shells and cymbals......

Tutor, Do you by any chance know the Licensing Agreements for AIR Music Technology or Roland? I own both a TR-6S and MC-101, so is it legal for me to distribute samples from my hardware drum machines? I also have AIR Strike, Structure and Xpand!2, which all have drum samples included. I can't find a EULA for AIR Music Tech, but I'm assuming that I can only use samples that I made from their software for a personal expansion, just not one for commercial use. I found EULAs for IK Multimedia, Studio Linked and Spitfire Audio.

If it's made from samples (e.g. drums, instruments etc) then I would avoid using in a library unless they have clearly stated that they are public domain. Assume they are not. 99.99% are not going to allow it. Search specifically for public domain or creative commons (which will likely have some restrictions but these will be listed)

If it's oscillator based, e.g analog hardware synth then you should be fine. the middle ground is when the oscillators are sampled waveforms or wavetables, but really no one is going to know either way if your pad was synthesized from a sampled square wave.

All sounds in the Roland mc101 are made from samples, no way Roland would allow use of these as individual samples in a library, but also unlikely that they would ever find out. But Roland have history coming down hard on people sampling vdrums for example. And that included people making loop libraries from the individual hits

The inmusic licenses are normally included in the first page of the installer
